A rhyming piece of encouragement.

People.
You can't help, but be surrounded and
it leaves me feeling astounded.
Their masks come out and they're running about
with their plastic smiles that stretch for miles.
They say they care,
as their words float in the air.
And I'm suppose to trust and
not make a fuss?
Yeah, okay, if that's what you say.
But I know more, something you
shouldn't ignore.
It's the letdown in which we're baptized,
but the written word always had me hypnotized.
Since it's not one to criticize, but instead it
multiplies and divides the crazed hemispheres of my mind.
It brings tears to my eyes that blind and they embed to remind.
That Time cannot be wasted and that Life should be tasted.
No backward glances toward the past, Time moves screamingly fast
and there's no space in between to feel regret or loss,
no time to calculate the cost.
And it leaves behind a stain,
a memory that will forever remain.
It's ourseleves whom we must train
before our lives go down the drain
in a swirl of misery, hate and pain.
That healing takes place where there is no shame.
It becomes a checkpoint for the tears,
from mourning for the years
that we spent in fear of our own beauty and it becomes clear.
That this is all just a test,
to see who can be better, not best.
We are soliders in training
when we're not maintaining our devotion to the status quo,
but deep in out recesses we know,
that no one can love you like you
and no matter what you do,
people will find garbage to spew.
So never dull your light,
by any means, keep it bright
because while time and money may be tight,
there's no shortage of love for you.
