Elements of Time

Still working through some ideas for the main plot, and what the main character will be all about, mini-plots are of the plenty...

Main character: Guy Eldridge, some kind of analyst for a branch of the NSA...compiles info collected by a top-secret super computer system with a very long name, he just calls it "Bob". Like myself Guy is a bit of a Jack-of-all-master-of-none, with multiple and varying interests...How he came to have such an occupation is still to be determined, bu I was thinking along the lines of his having been in the service/or CIA, perhaps having been wounded/traumatized in Afganistan. He will surely need some skill sets for the adventures he will find himself (and at the same time having a fault from this past experience that may in some ways inhibit him)...Perhaps some kind of scandal angle with his past experience that also comes back to haunt/hamper his pending heroism!

"Bob" compiles info from the internet based on a set of core criteria, but also on a weekly basis through a set a keywords and phrases handed down by his higher-ups. It crawls the web and churns out info from pages, blogs, forums as it pertains to the criteria and Guy and a team of analysts, well, analyse...a perk of the job allows him to visit seminars on various topics of which he has an interest, to gather more info for his reports, and one day he visits a seminar by an up-and-coming blogger/reporter that will push him into the realm of time travel, government conspiracy, and secret societies...

The Kairos Society is a secret world organization of the powerful. The Powerful of the Powerful to be exact, the Mother of all World Domination Clubs. They are the Inner Circle of the most influential persons who are leading members of such organizations as WHO, the World Bank, the U.N., WTO, the Bilderberg...they are the true power behind world power.

Back in the 40's first with the acquistioning of alien technology, advanced Nazi technoogy and experiments, and the applications of the Philadelphia Experiments, time travel was discovered and utilized. Too powerful a concept to allow in the hands of any one government, the Kairos Society was founded by top military, scientific, and political powers of post-war Allies. The technology and power was downplayed while these founding members set up new installations to explore its uses for their own gains. In the 60's they had built a secret complex with it's own power source, the precursor to the public Hadron Collider, smashing and splitting atoms to create the power needed to draw back the curtains of time...

At first the members used their time machine to go back and study time, to learn and try to apply what they could to advance the world and make it a better place. It was, after all, uncertain times as Europe was being rebuilt and Communism was taking power...they transcended the boundaries and politics and religions of the world, using their positions and influences to further the power and reach of their society. In time they came to realize that their creation would go hand in hand with the desires of governments during the Cold War and the Arms Race...they began to reach out and sell "time" to certain factions of governments and societies worldwide, charging vast monetary amounts for its use, making the society very rich and ever more powerful...

Going back in time they learned that they could study and change the course of history with no effect on our own world and time. They created alternate and parallel worlds alongside our own. Newer generations of the society coming into their own in an ever changing world saw a powerful opportunity to take advantage of. They sold "time" to governments where they could test weapons, war, economic, and political strategies of which elements could be applied to the "Here and Now". It served its purpose and had its time and place, but governments were always narrow sited, not seeing the bigger picture or being able to see further down the road. Using their power they were the founders for the international and intergovernment agencies of trade, policy, and banking we know of today, the true power in the world.

The Kairos Society not only catered to the desires of governments, but they would also "sell time" to individuals, corporations, or other "interest groups" for phenomenal amounts or favors. Corporations could go back to a time just shy of the present to influence governments for their needs, test their strategies, drugs, technologies, on the populace without all the red tape and laws of this world. They would "sell time" to academic groups who could live and study the persons and cultures of their interest: watch the pyramids being built, witness the power of Rome, sail with Colombus when he "discovered" the New World...

For some it wasn't enough, and some started to play God. They would go back to certain points of history important events, for the sake of changing the course of time and history of a whole world. It was a game, a game played by the powerful who could...simply because they could. Some still held to more benevolent ideals and splintered from the KAiros Society in secret at first. They were a secret-society-within-The-secret-society of all societies...they called themselves The Templars Temporal, and they dedicated themselves to curbing the power of their brethren, and to right the wrongs perpetrated in countless "When and Wheres". It wasn't long before the Kairos Society discovered their "brothers and sisters" and has since waged a rutheless war to exterminate them from their ranks. The Templars Temportal still operate from within the Kairos Society...but to be found out means certain death!

Using time travel is more than just "going back", the Kairos Society and givernments like the U.S. have sent powerful spy-satellites back into time, fitted with miniature time-machine devices capable of sending data to and from multiple time-periods. They use the satellites to collect data after visitting a time era. One can go back to any point of history, but doing so creates a parallel world along the line of time...because the future is always in motion, you cannot o to a future time, of ours, or of one that has been visited and manipulated. To continue to observe and and collect data on these time points. Every 3.14159265 days after activation, and every 3.14159265 hours thereafter, data is collected (3.14159265 is Pi, I don't know why it has to be, but we need rules and I like it!) from one of these time-satellites. Though one cannot explore various time periods within the same time-location, leaving a satellite and the technology to collect data and transmit works well. If you were to go back to a point of time a hundred years ago, leaving such technology, within 3.14 days you would start receiving data every 3.14 hours from a span of time equal to the date of visit and "our" current time. So being 2011, if I went back in time 300 years ago, I would have a cache of data spanning 300 years that was transmitting every 3.14 hours...

Somehow Guy Eldridge comes across a portion of this data, which aides in him being thrown into tis realm of time travel and secret societies...probably it was a Wikki-leak by the Templars!!
