Just a cynical approach to writing, just another metaphor for life.
Skip to the end and decide whether this story is still worth a read. With luck it could obtain the quality of a fluff piece, strung together with drama and cheap thrills to disguise the fact that it is a boring piece of scrap without a purpose. Hopefully it will be over quickly, as longer works tend to induce boredom and indulge forgetfullness, though sometimes it would be best not to remember what has happened before. The past changes our perspective of the future. In a short story words have to be choosen carefully, the point has to be profound, and the conclusion must have an impact. If not the story remains scribble sprawled on a blank page, no purpose, no place, possibly forgotten. In case the point has already been missed, this is not about writing. It is a metaphor for life.
Writing is easy. Throw together a few clever adjectives and verbs, add a dash of inticing hooks, and it becomes a masterpiece appreciated for generations. Life is difficult. Mix ninety-five percent shit with five percent beauty, spice it up with the constant attempt to keep ahold of sanity, and what honestly remians for all the effort? Perhaps children or their children will remember the sacrifices and successes, but more than likely names will drift and fall to the ground to join the body in the earth, nutrients for a depraved world.
Sucess is a dream force fed from infancy. In a just world those who work the hardest reap the rewards for their sweat, elbow grease returning the favor by allowing a glide into possessions and power. However too many souls lie beaten and broken for a just world to exsist. The corrupt live fine, wine and dine, by manipulating a middle man to further their own ambitions. Take it personally, after all it's just business to interfere with personal happiness. Mind the mine and procure the possession and maybe happiness will follow. After all heaven is made of streets of gold. Today's religion is as flawed as modern business ethics.
