Poem celebrating summer
A kerplunk and a splash
the flick of a tail

Circles and ripples
are all that curtail

Two suns through the mist
the moon bathed in blue

And I now know my mission
which I have to do

The light is so blending
in a yellow refrain

A heron appeared
with no sign of strain

This morning is love
surrounded in peace

If this is like heaven
my bliss will release

The warmth of the day
the music I hear

My God and my daughter
I know must be near

Serene is a word
it's as real as can be

This day is idyllic
and only for me

I'm suspended in time
my body's at rest

I know I can muster
the strength for my test

A kerplunk and a splash
against the call of the wild

The palette of colors
is driving me wild

I'm arrested by the beauty
and the warmth of the sun

Everyday is a treasure
and a fabulous one

The ripples diminish
the air is so pure

A kerplunk and a splash
my life is demure

The mist is a cloud
which suspends me in time

My mind can't believe
the rich to the sublime

The allure of wet grass
and the dew on the corn

The feeling I have
is like being reborn

The color of fucia
caressed by the green

The splendor of summer
is something I've seen

A deer in the corn
so peaceful and sure

A cock pheasant behind her
sharing the tour

The bird sounds are deafening
in the silence so clean

It's all so refreshing
so pure and serene

A doe and two fawns
a family quite new

Walking off through the field
in full open view

When over my head
it's a 'copter I see

It passes right over
probably looking at me

A bright yellow boat
my fly rod in hand

I just caught a bass
that I'm trying to land

The distant call of a cow
and the yap of a hound

I can just barely hear
if I strain for the sound

The murmur of voices
from far, far away

And the deer keeps on grazing
to start her new day

A kerplunk and a splash
the fish search for food

A momentary ripple
is all that's the clue

A turtle just surfaced
a quick howdy do

A bull frog is croaking
with a bellow or two

The splendor of summer
is glorious and grand

So peaceful I rest
in the palm of eternal hands.
