How procrastination saved the day.

      Alyssa sat on her bed
Staring at the blank page before her
      She sat and stared
As she had been doing for an hour

      How was she to write
The most interesting story of her life
      On the dull subject
Of a man and his busy wife?

      She went downstairs
      And eat an enormous snack
      She went back upstairs
And took a very long nap

      She pondered a bath
And she longed for a shower
      She sat on her bed
And at the paper did glower

      Her mind wandered far
Then it came back for a spell
Her mom left in a car
Then she knew all would be well

      The story could be on
The life of her mother and father
      How they met when young
      With waiting could never bother

      How they stayed together
When they wanted to give in
How her mother worked all day
And her father stayed home with his gin

So she sat down and wrote
Letting the words pour onto the page
And for once in her life
      Procrastination had saved the day
