A poem I wrote when I found out we had to leave our NM home where we had livedfor12 years.
My Tribute To This Place I've Called Home

I am finding that when you are to go away
What you leave behind becomes more dear
This is how I am feeling about this place tonight
as I walk along your silent road
the sky over me so blue
the sunset pink and orange
casts a light over every rock
and blade of grass, every bush of rabbit brush
and Juniper tree
We were so in love with you
New Mexico
your enchantment found its place in our hearts
five children native here
elk hunting I loved so much
the starry endless sky at night
airstreams make happy homes
I learned well what to appreciate
water, warmth, a soak in a tub
a friend near by to confide in
those simple precious days with christians
and the ghosts when they left us behind
I know what it means to love peace
to struggle, to hope and to strive
how the heart would ache for far away places
and that longing for far away friends
I have learned how wonderful food can be
to prepare and please people with
driving long distance to get any where
and all the rides home were so welcome
to see people come
to let loved ones go
hope never left
he was a faithful friend
for all the roots I have to dig up
I want to leave some behind
I want to keep you
I made you mine
I wont forget you
my heart will always know you
you made me who i am
stay here
so when i yearn for you
i will find you
again
