Shows how much I liked school:-)
On the very first day, when I was barely four
I entered clutching my mother through the school’s front door
I don’t remember it well at all
The teacher’s cheery smile is all that I recall

I remember refusing to let go,
For I felt I was entering a replica of hell
A world with mean old teachers and terrible classmates
I did not dare to move out of my timid little shell

But the teachers marvelous as they are till today
Pried me out with a gentleness and care
Not only did I learn to read, write and count,
I learned to be honest, make friends and share.

As I went through the different years of my school life
I learnt that life will eventually be full of strife
But that’s no reason not to live it to the fullest
Especially when teachers encourage you to always do your best

Through all my primary classes my expectations of childhood were fulfilled
As I grew up, the workload increased as did the thrill
Of growing up amid my friends and learning different things
Some days I felt pleased and on others I felt jinxed

Growing up has its ups and downs
Throughout those years I had smiles, but many more frowns
But teachers and friends showed me how to look forward to each day
And sadness was as hard to find as a needle in a stack of hay

So now I’m getting ready to say farewell
And it is on these nice thoughts that I dwell
Of how much I learned and how much I gained
And to leave this school, how much it pained!
