practice till dawn to win Schools band Jams
Imagine being in a band and having to go up against 10 other schools bands, trying to win 10,000 dollars for your schools music department, and winning a recording deal. Can you imagine that? Well i couldnt either until one day.
My band mates and i were practicing our songs as usual when the vocal music teacher Mrs. Harrison came into the room.
"Hello girls. I hope i wasnt interupting anything." She said.
"Oh no we were just taking our break actually, can we do something for you?" i asked.
"Well i wanted to tell you something about the school jam contest coming up next week." She said sitting down with us.
"Sure shoot." I said.
"well you girls are very talented and i am happy to say that you are Rocky Road's best chance in winning the school's band contest." She said. We didnt say anything back but we smiled.
"Well you girls are now up against some really good compition, and the judges are different from last years, they are Michael Jackson Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. So you have very professional judges this year." She said. We nodded our heads.
"We had celeberty judges last year too, but we came in 2nd place, This year we are going to beat those Splashing Dolphins once and for all. Rascal Flatts is going to win this year RIGHT GIRLS!??!??" I asked.
"Yeah." they all said in unison.
"Yes i no you girls will domiate but i mean these judges are more strict you have to own your preformances, Michael is a perfectionist, Simon can be strict and Randy just wants style and flare. You need to make sure that you can do it just right. Do you think that you can?" She asked. We all nodded our heads.
"Well thats great so the contest this year is only 5 rounds each round 2 bands will be illiminated. I hope you girls can do this. I know you will try. Well i have to go now you girls should to. We can talk more tomorrow." She said. We nodded and packed up our instruments.
"Ok guys we have to beat the Splashing Dolphins they are good but we are better. We have to practice and make sure we get everything right. Especially with Simon being one of the judges. I have to deffently make sure im not flat or sharp. This is going to be one of the best compitions ever because we are going to win." I said.
"Yeah no one can defeat Rascal Flatts!!" Sophie said.
"So what songs are we going to do for each round?" Hannah asked as we headed out the front door of the school.
"Hmm we can figure that out when we get to my house." Mickey said.
"Mickey is right no need to figure 10 songs out and plus we dont know if we have to do certain songs each round." I said as we turned left and headed off to Mickeys house.
"Yeah Paige is right, but Mrs. Harrison told me to check my email when i got home because she knows that on Thursdays you all come to my house. I think that the rules and everything are posted on there." Mickey said.
"Great we can check it out." I said. So we headed to Mickey's house and put our instruments in her room.
"Ok guys mom said we can use the computer in 15 minutes, she is finishing up something for her work." Mickey said coming into her room and closing the door. We all nodded.
"So what do you think the competion is going to be like?" Sophie asked.
"I dont know but i do know that is it going to be fanstaic and those Splashing Dolphins or should i say tone deaf porpouses are going to wish that they had betters songs." Hannah said laughing. We all laughed along. For 2 years now the Splashing Dolphins have dominated the compitition every year they seem to have the best songs or do the best of someone elses song. Cause every year we have 3 different judges, and one is always a special celebraty judge, they didnt do this last year but everytime you have to do the celebraty judges songs or at least one. Last year they told you wat song to do so it was more of a surprise to the band because they didnt practice that song. This year im not sure what we are suppose to do.
"Girls you can use the computer now." Mickeys mom said.
"Come one guys let's see who we are up against this year." Hannah said. We all followed Mickey to her computer. Finally she got the email up and running.
"Here it is." Mickey said.
"Well what are you waiting for? Read it." I said.
"ok ok, um it says, Hello Rascal Flatts, you have been selected to play in the school's jam contest, you will be going up against 10 other schools. These are the songs you must have, 3 originals, 1 cover, and one Michael Jackson song. We would like you to reply to this email saying the last 2 songs you are going to do that would be the cover and the MJ song. If you get an email back saying no you cant do these songs then pick another, chances are you will be having to pick more. Please reply to this email by Friday March 15 with your songs, we will see you on Tuesday March 19th at the festival. Thanks so much." Mickey finished reading. I looked at my band mates.
"Ok girls we need to come up with songs to sing and then we need to email these people back by TOMORROW!!" I said.
"Well then what are we waiting for?" Sophie asked.
"I dont know but we need to hurry." Hannah said. We all then headed upstairs to think of songs that we were going to do. Oy this could be hecktic!
