Morning impressions
Morning Chatter

I step softly into the warm dampness that is four AM
I sit quietly in chair with the stillness that still remains
Listening to the world as it stirs, groans and awakens
Early morning birds talking, discussing events unknown

A lone carmine Lexus softly glides by in morning's silver silence
A far cry from the boom box monsters who awake later in the day
Their presence announced two days prior to their actual arrival
The heavy beats, vibrations and their license plate buzzing

A sleepless night, I am ill and under the weather, and a bit wimpy
A cup of coffee and idle chatter of the morning birds brings comfort
The sound of a jogger's shuffling feet gliding on the sidewalk
His heavy breathing, I can almost hear his heart pounding

His orange face covered with sweat, glistens in the sodium vapor light
The pat, pat, pat of his purpose built running shoes on the concrete sound
I sit quietly in the dark shadows watching, unseen, invisible, undetectable
It is quiet for now but the stirring has begun again, it won't be long now

The heavy day is opening its eyes to the daily burdens of life
The birds will go all but silent soon or at the very least unheard
Drowned out by the ebb and flow of what we call life and commerce
Sadly I must also leave the quietness I have found and join in too

These quiet moments cherished
