PART 2

Jason was right. The crime scene wasn’t that far from Sarah’s at all, At least not as far as any crime scene has been in the past. She drove past the market that was just past the old school up Sarah’s street. Then turned right on Bourke and drove past a sign that said “Phoenix ravine ,1.5 miles” it only took her about half an hour all together.  When she arrived there were squad cars there, just like Jason said. Now there was a crowd of people beginning to surround the caution tape. She saw Her bosses car parked on the side of the road not to far away from the squad cars. She walked passed the cars and under the caution tape where she was stopped buy a police man.

“excuse me mam, but you are not supposed to be here, step back please.” he told her.

She told him that she was an investigator and was on the case. She showed him her badge and assured him she was suppose to be here.  The police escorted her to the crime scene where she met up with her boss. He filled her in on everything that they found out so far.

“The person driving the car was a woman named Melody Thomson, she was 23 years old and as far as we no has no record of being a bad driver. All that was in her car was a wallet , a dead or broken cell phone, a purse and a book about psychiatry , so we are guessing that this girl was going to school to become a psychiatrist because the book was signed property of Phoenix college. As for the truck all we found was a picture of a woman with blonde hair. She looks to be standing in a park ” The boss explained.

“but what was in the purse? And what about the cell phone?” she asked

“ well , We are having the Cell phone analyzed at the moment. That shouldn’t take to long. Along with any finger prints that were found. As for the purse we found a few little items , none that were of any interest. All except for one that is. We found a note .  He signaled to the forensics team to come over. A big guy with shaggy dirty blonde hair, brown eyes and a scar on the corner of his cheek , right below his eye came running over.

“Let detective Bellow see the note” he instructed.

He nodded and went over to the evidence box and got it. He went to hand it to Sarah but she hesitated.

“don’t worry it was already checked , you can  take a look at it all the evidence has been analyzed already. Just make sure you hand it back to the forensics lab when you are finished with it so they could put it in the file room."  he instructed

Sarah Took the note and unfolded it. She opened it and began to read. It said ‘”I’m sorry that I flipped on you, You are my best friend and I would never want to hurt you. I guess it just made me a bit upset and hurt me a little when you told me to stay out of your business. I’m so used to us sharing everything with each other I never would of thought you would of hidden something like that from me. Please forgive me. Meet me at The Deli at 7 o’clock , We’ll talk. From Landen.”

Sarah folded the note back up and put it in the evidence box. The boss handed her the box and told her to take it and look at it, it will help you get some leads on the case. Sarah thanked him but she already knew where she was going to start her investigation. She took her cell phone out of her pocket and dialed the number of the forensics lab. A voice she recognized picked up.

“Hey Tammy, Have you got anything out of the cell phone yet?”

“yeah we were lucky. The cell phone was broken but it had a chip in it so all we had to do was find a similar cell phone from the same company and we were able to put the chip in the new phone which let us gain access to everything in her cell phone”

“Great job tams . Was there anything about a guy named Landen in the cell phone. Any out going or incoming calls or text messages? “ Sarah asked her

“Actually there were several calls from a Landen and a couple text messages. Most of the text messages were asking for the phone to be answered. Some were apologies. I wonder what that’s about.” Tammy said surprised that she asked that.

“ Tammy I need you to trace the phone number and send The address and number to me right away” Sarah directed her.

“Already ahead of you , I traced the number to a house down on Menlo street. The address is 7754 Menlo street. I\ll text you the address and phone number but I tried the number a couple times and there was no answer So you might have to go there yourself. As for the finger prints, we are still waiting on those so you will just have to be patient , Anyways give me a second ill send you what you need.” she explained.

After about a minute Sarah’s phone made a beeping sound as she was on the phone that let her know she received a text message.

“alright. Got it , ill call you back after I get more info or if I need anything . Thanks tam.” Sarah said then pressed the end button and put the phone back in her pocket.

She made her way over to her boss and let him know what she found out and told him she had business to take care of and she will let him know when she finds anything. She quickly took out her phone and dialed Jason’s number. He picked up his phone and said” hello” in a husky voice. She got him up to date with the case and told him to meet her at Landen’s in 15 minutes. With that Sarah grabbed the evidence box and made her way to her car. She placed the evidence box in her trunk and got into her car and made her way towards Landens.
