This Old Face Written for the prompt: What is your craft? What do you (or your character) assemble, twist, turn, and/or shake into a new reality? Or maybe, you (or your character) are just like me – all thumbs – when it comes to arts and crafts. Write a story or poem about making (or not being able to assemble) projects.(17 Lines) It’s taken years to craft this face That once was touched by only Grace. The lines that you now see carved here, I chiseled with both grief and fear, And dreams that faded, turned aside, As passions flamed, then later died. And sorrows, too, and some regret For expectations never met. But – The deepest features that you see Enjoy a different legacy. I sculpted them with joy and peace, Much happiness and some caprice, And love that lasted through the years Despite the anger and the tears. My face is now a work of art Upon which I have carved my heart. ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ Thank you for reading this piece. Would you please rate it for me?
