a story as old as the hills, as new as the cutting edge of science
Could it be that we can’t get along because we’re being misdirected? I joined WDC to plug the story of my life, and more than my life, a story as old as the hills, as new as the cutting edge of science, a new age way of determining our reality that could bring us the peace we all desire.

Seven years ago, with nothing better to do with my time, I decided to write my memoirs. The first thing one morning I wrote on a yellow pad my thoughts and continued every morning to do the same. After a few days of this, I typed what I’d written into my word processor. I could move paragraphs and sentences around, find a thought I’d written by typing a word in “find text in document.” It was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. The longer I worked on the picture the bigger it got, the more aware of my time on the planet I became, and what it indicated.

Writing the story of my life has been quite a challenge. So many circumstances have entered the picture, and all connected, it has been very difficult to put it all into logical perspective. So far, I’ve been greatly encouraged by the reviews. Perhaps, even if it is far from the norm, I’ve got something worth writing about.

Joe Smith, the Original begins when I was 49. Numerology says a big change was due. Astrology says that my ruling planet, Uranus, had transited to a position opposing itself when I was born. It meant change. I cut my umbilical cord with my past and went to sea. My old life was over, and good riddance. At the time, it wasn’t because of what numerology or astrology said, but because I’d made a mess of my life—both my second marriage and business career on the rocks—that I cut from the herd.

Numerology says that I was on a journey of discovery, of self-identification. To everyone who knew me, it was a journey of self-destruction. In any event, I left my life at sea two years later captain of my ship, with my first mate my third wife. She wasn’t happy with my captain of the ship role ashore. She departed and two weeks later wife number four appeared. I’d vowed that I’d never marry again. Astrology says that with four of my planets in my Seventh House a life partner would be the most important thing in my life, and once I found the right mate, she would be my one and only. It took four tries, but I found the right mate.

There are lots of symbols that say my fourth wife was sent to me. On our first date, a hike in the mountains near Mt. St. Helens, on May 18, 1980, the day Mt. Saint Helens erupted, we were sitting on a log chatting. Karen said, “I want ours to be a platonic relationship.” I thought what an odd thing to say. At that very moment, the sky turned black in the northwest and we rushed back to the car. We got the news on the radio.

Fifteen years later, a friend gave Karen a printout of our compatibility he had made on his computer from an astrological program he had installed. In it I read, “The platonic thing was there from the start, and there is a sense of the brotherly and sisterly between you. Even if lovers, you will always be first and foremost, good friends.”

Looking back on my life, there are too many coincidences to call them coincidences. For instance, after the calamity my life had become, Mt. St. Helens eruption, the legend of the Phoenix: a fabulous bird that after five or six centuries immolates itself on a pyre and rises from the ashes to begin a new cycle of years: often an emblem of immortality or of reborn idealism or hope; a person or thing that has been restored after suffering calamity or apparent annihilation.

When I departed my old life in 1975, if things could go wrong they did. In my new life when things should have gone wrong, things went right for me. I’d found my path of destiny; that is, until 1981. The same economic situation that put me out of business in 1975 again occurred in 1981. I was left without a job. The sea called me back. Karen and I bought a sailboat and set sail from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for the Virgins. Six months later, we ended on the rocks, and spent the next 17 years in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was back to if anything could go wrong it did. Obviously, I’d left my path of destiny.

On April Fool’s day 1999 (the joke was on me), we left Florida and returned to Portland, Oregon, bought an RV, and hit the road for nine years, during which time everything went right for us. We found our dream home in the tall timber 35 miles east of Mt. Hood in 2008.

Coincidental with our home in the woods, numerology gives me the number “7” for my life lesson number. In Numerology and The Divine Triangle, I read, “You should learn to spend time by yourself, in the woods or by the seashore, where you can get in touch with your inner self and your deepest thoughts because your destiny is to use your mind.”

The chapters in my life story tell of numerology’s nine cycles in life. The one cycle is “the pioneer, striking out alone, seeking the experience which will establish its identity.” The two cycle is “the feminine principle of receptivity,” connecting us with the beginning of the all atoms universe and its development. The fifth cycle, freedom, change, adventure, fits with Karen’s and my life together. This unusual way of telling the story of one’s life, a way that connects with why our lives can go wrong and how we can bring ourselves back on course, in the sixth cycle, when we desire to bring harmony, truth, justice, and a sense of balance into the environment,

in Chapter 6, I discover the cutting edge of science and its explanation for God: universal consciousness, an essential in the makeup of the time-space consortium, but one of many dimensions. John Stewart Bell, a quantum physicist, in trying to prove Einstein’s theory of relativity, proved Einstein wrong in the most important discovery of all times. The dawning of our consciousness of the universe, it is called Bell’s theorem, we learn that photons communicate, and once in communication always in communication, instantaneously, even if on opposite sides of the universe.

In Einstein’s theory of relativity, as an object approaches the speed of light, time slows down. An object can’t attain the speed of light because as it approaches that speed it grows in size. At the speed of light it would occupy the whole universe. There you have it, the speed of light, physical, the local forces of gravity and such, instantaneous communication, a non-local force beyond the local forces.

Quantum physicists now see in the microcosmic universe how it all comes together. An idea doesn’t have form or shape but it brings about manifestation. There is a dimension of infinite possibility. From our observation comes our reality. Alas, we live in a world we could not have dreamed of a hundred years ago, and the momentum is revving up. We can’t dream of the world we will live in 50 years from now. The problem: we fear change. It is all-too-easy to live in the past and end up a creek without a paddle.

Astrologers tell us we are leaving the Age of Pisces. People have been easily influenced. They must now learn to stand alone. The symbol of Pisces is two fish, one swimming upstream and one downstream. Piceans are unable to make up their minds. Is it not amazing how true that is!

There is a groundswell building that is going to break and sweep the world. We are entering the Age of Aquarius, the symbol of which is the water-bearer to humanity, portending brotherhood and fraternity, the life-force of spiritual energy. Aquarians operate as equals among equals. They are independent. Freedom is most important. Aquarians despise authoritarian or collectivist rule. Aquarians love new ideas, meeting new people and exchanging ideas. They love the beauty of nature, and luxury and comfort, but they are not greedy. They observe much. They are more intellectual than physical. Their main interest is in human problems, and in this vein tireless workers.

There is a lot of doom and gloom today in the news, but once we realize our universe is all in one mold—no separation in the law, religion, and science—the powers that be will not get away with scheming and conniving their fiefdoms to suit their own needs and out-foxing the individual. Long live the Age of Aquarius!
