It’s seems impossible for me to describe the feelings that surface
Grand Lake Colorado Morning
Rex 2/15/2010

It’s seems impossible for me to describe the feelings that surface when I happened upon this mountain morning.  My feelings are beyond words, but I am compelled like an addict to try to write it down, hoping somehow the ink will preserve my memory.

The sun begins to creep over the eastern slope; first peaking then suddenly grabbing the hillside and my full attention; shadows in the valley one by one slowly disappear.  The brief seconds before color appears it is silent and sacred, broken by an Osprey cry, it's way beyond neat, it’s glorious. If the Bible was a picture book this scene be in Genesis, a few chapters before the book becomes a journal of over- told people stories.

The sight is breath taking it includes green turning brown beetle infested pines waiting just for a fire. With patches of September-harvest yellow aspen trees, a granite spotted hillside, a layer of fog and all topped with a clear powder blue sky.

A completely fresh morning and nothing but nature is astir, it makes me wonder if it’s like this every morning. I am sure that the sun does not come up around me... although I think it should. I am pulled away from my thoughts by the ever increasing beauty. You don’t need to be a deep thinker here to become inspired. My struggle is to silent the voice inside while merging with the view.

Something overwhelming and simple is happening, time stands still and then it moves quickly, my eyes move to the next breath taking scene.

The mountains are alive and so am I, they call to me and I listen. I seek and they provide. It’s just one more morning here, and much more than a story, yes, it's a gift way beyond words.
