story about a girl with a tail
“Your daughter she has a... a...”
Terror welled up in Katie’s belly as the doctor stood there in silence. She pushed a wayward strand of brown hair out of her eyes and tucked it behind her ear. Something was wrong with her little girl, something the doctor did not want to tell her the longer he waited the more scared she became. The doctor sighed "Isadora has a tail. It a very manageable birth defe..."
Katie, like most first time parents worry about their child. This is because this child could be there last, and most think that they have to have the perfect child. Katie, hearing her child has a tail, makes her situation worst. Katie, already had to deal with being a single parent, as Katie’s husband had left her and her daughter Isadora when Isadora was barely a month old. Now her daughter has a tail, Katie, is a young energetic woman who was the mother anyone can get along with. She has brown hair, is short, and she will admit a weight problem. Katie, doesn’t really care about her outside status as she is a devout Christian, has a good job, and has many friends as well.
“What?! Oh no." Katie felt sick with shock, she scooped up her little girl, and Isadora started to cry. Isadora not yet two years old was showing signs that she was knew something was wrong; although she didn’t fully understand the situation. Katie held her daughter tight and Isadora laid her face into her mother’s chest as she continued to cry.
---------------------------------------------
"Isadora," Katie called from the bottom of the stairs. Moments later Katie heard a loud noise. Katie called again to Isadora but there was no answer scared as she was she headed up to Isadora’s room.
Isadora’s room was a small room that was quite messy, toys of all kinds on the floor. Clothes on the bed posters of Dora the explorer the backyardigans the common toddler cartoon shows on the walls. Her bed unmade, but too was of Dora the explorer and in the middle of the room sat Isadora crying. Katie looked at Isadora and realized that she was growing up. Isadora had just turned five years old and was already becoming a beautiful girl.
"Isadora are you OK?" Look at her daughter who was still crying.
"I’m OK mommy." After she had collected her, she quickly checked her tail. Though in the five years she has had her tail it never really caused her any problems, but Isadora did not want to cause it any harm.
Isadora first knew she had a tail when it was only a stub; maturing faster than the rest of her body was now seven inches long with the same brown hair as her own.
"Isadora, I made you breakfast this morning so whenever you are ready to eat you can," Katie stated.
"Thanks mommy," Isadora said heading downstairs to the kitchen. The kitchen was a small room, that resembled a short hallway that had cupboards on both side of the rectangular room. The counter top was of black marble granite. The walls were red in color more like a salsa red and had tile on the back splash. The tile had gold and silver had leaves in the center.
Katie watched Isadora as she prepared the rest of the breakfast. She grabbed two plates out of the cupboards by using her tail. She scooped the scrambled eggs that were in the pan by holding the pan with her hands. She used her tail to scoop it onto the plates. Isadora then put a piece of toast on both of the plates. Katie was surprised to see that Isadora had made toast and realizing that she is very mature for her age.
"Isadora do you need any help?"
"No mommy," Isadora said. As she set the plates on the dining room table, and pulled out two chairs so they could both eat.
"Isadora, don’t forget I’ll be taking you to your first day of school,” she had always heard of school and was excited but scared at the same time about going to school.
"Mommy I know," Isadora said stuffing a mouthful of scrambled eggs into her mouth.
After they both finished eating, they quickly had to get going to Hartford elementary school. The school was, like most other things, just off the highway. It was not obvious that it was a school; only the sign, which declared Hartford elementary, told you. It looked like a collection of matching houses, built with maroon-colored bricks. There were so many trees and shrubs that it hid the school’s actual size.
Isadora stepped out of the car and stepped into a mud puddle. It had rained the night before and was still drizzling Isadora followed closely behind her mom so she wouldn’t get lost.
The school was brightly lit and was like one giant hallway. The floor was made of marble tile. The walls were made of brick and each classroom had happy signs say things like welcome back to school or a new school year is here. Isadora walked down the long hallway and passed many classrooms some of which Isadora liked she passed an art room, a computer lab, and a library.
Isadora’s face lit up when she passed the library and saw all those books. Books have always interest Isadora every since she was an early toddler and has even tried to read on her own.
After walking down the long hallway, they made it to the kindergarten room. Isadora met a young woman with blond hair who had a smile that would last forever. Like most Kindergarten teachers, they are either old or young, because either they have nothing else to turn to but with the rate of new teachers quitting they beg them to stay, or they just had a teacher recently pass.
“Hello,” Katie said to Isadora’s teacher.
"I guess this must be Isadora," Ms. Zorski said.
Isadora hid behind her mom as when her teacher tried to pat her on the head. "Come on now Isadora don’t be shy," Mrs. Zorski said. Showing that she doesn’t bite. She slowly pops out from behind her mom, and is about to enter the classroom when she hears her mom whisper something to her teacher.
"There’s something you need to know about Isadora."
"What is that?" Ms. Zorski asked in a questioning tone.
Katie took a hard swallow before uttering the words she has a tail. Isadora couldn’t really understand what they were saying, but she knew they were talking about her having a tail. She was somewhat mad at her mom, because Isadora doesn’t want the whole world to know she has a tail and is different. "You be good Isadora," Katie told her daughter as she let her go for the first time.
The classroom the room was a buzz. Toys on the floor kids were running around learning tools all around the room, and educational posters on the walls. Some of which some Isadora wanted to learn. Isadora looked around the room and tried to find her desk. Isadora finally found her desk. It was in the middle row Isadora would have liked a seat in the back row because it’s any quicker access to the exit.
"Ok class, I hold in my hands two pictures can anyone tell me what these two pictures represent?" asked the smiling teacher.
Isadora raised her hand and answered, "A mommy."
"Ah yes Isadora this one is a picture of a mommy." She smiled fondly at Isadora A long silence followed Isadora’s answer so Ms. Zorski prompted the class by asking, "Can anyone help Isadora name the second picture?"
A loud boyish voice called out "It’s a daddy!"
Confused, Isadora questioned, "What’s a daddy?" Her teachers smile fading uncertainly.
Ms. Zorksi said, "Isadora surely you have a daddy a daddy is like a mommy only he is a man." Isadora shook her no.
“You don’t have a daddy what a freak," remarked a kid who looks to be a paste eater. Isadora felt her tail and instantly became scared.
"What’s that growing out of your butt?"
Isadora started turning beet red with embarrassment says, "It’s a tail."Tears were rolling down her face and she was too scared to speak.
"Isadora is there something wrong." Ms. Zorski asked
"Yeah there is said the paste eater she has a tail Isadora has a tail! Isadora has a tail." The class chanted. The more the class chanted the more mad she became. Even though she was crying, she was mad, because she hated herself, especially her tail. If not for her tail, she would not be in this mess. Isadora closed her eyes she thought she block the hatred around her by not seeing it. Isadora felt someone grab her and she literally jumped out of her skin.
"Where are you taking me?' She asked
"Shh!!!" the voice replied
Isadora slowly opened her eyes and saw a blurry figure, "its OK Isadora it’s just me."
Isadora smiled as she realized who it was it was her teacher, "Thanks." she replied
"Isadora are you alright?"
"Sort of," She replied something wasn't right. Isadora had no idea what it was. Ms. Zorski gave Isadora a hug. The more she hugged her. The more Isadora felt this sensation. A feeling she had never felt before. The more she felt it the more she wanted it; it felt like a sexual sensation. Isadora’s tail was acting weird. As if it had a mind of its own it was swaying back and forth as if it was trying to gain momentum ready to strike at any moment.
Isadora heard a loud noise that sounded like someone was snapping a towel. The noise made Isadora look up. She saw blood dripping from the side of her teacher’s face. Isadora was shaking like she had been scarred for life. The tail continued to hit her teacher thought her teacher was hurt she managed to said, "Isadora... you... have... to... stop... it."
Isadora feared to answer her teacher but knew she had to "I’m not doing it’s my tail it’s like it has a mind of its own." Ms. Zorski raised a hand and Isadora immediately thought she was in trouble. So she tried to run away, but Isadora only got a few feet away when she was pulled back like a spring flinging into her teacher. Isadora’s tail tried wrapping around Ms. Zorski’s neck trying to suffocate her. Isadora was more scared then she had ever been before, scared because her tail was killing her teacher causing her to turn a dark blue. Once Isadora calmed down her tail returned to a calm normal state.
Isadora looked at her teacher who said, "Let’s have recess shall we."
Recess was no fun in the park for Isadora. She was guilty of almost killing her teacher and didn’t make a very good first impression. Why did my tail do that to her its never done that before she thought to herself Isadora thought she could take her mind off the incident by having some fun with her other classmates, but they wanted nothing to do with her when she went over to them they would say.
“We don’t want to play with you if you‘re going to hurt us, or we don’t want to play with someone who is different.”
After recess, the class went inside for story time. They heard a story about a girl named Dana, who also had a tail similar to Isadora’s, but this tail was evil very evil and she knew it was evil. She one day met up with a Genie named Mojojojo he gave the girl three wishes.
Her first wish she wished that everybody that she hurt was healed. The Genie snapped his fingers and the wish was granted. For her second wish, she wished that all the hurt she had received was healed. The genie snapped his fingers and yet again, the wish was granted. For her final wish, she wished to be normal and not to have a tail.
The genie sighed and said, “I can’t help you, you have to figure this out on your own.”
“Wait! I have to know more.”
“I’m sorry but you have to figure this out on your own,” he said disappearing into a cloud of smoke and then was gone.
Ms. Zorski held the book up so the kids could see the pictures, “That girl looks like Isadora.” remarked the Paste Eater in a rude tone.
Ms. Zorski continued. Though she was unhappy. She was told she had to figure out how to stop her tail from being evil. Many years had passed and she had merely forgotten about the genie until one day her and her husband were out on a nature walk. Dana stopped and saw a cave. She told her husband she was going to check it out a few minutes later Dana came running out of the cave saying I found it I found the answers to my ta… she then died giving birth to a son named James Blackthorn and he too had a tail.
After Ms. Zorski finished reading, the story the class was in sort of an uproar mainly concerning Isadora because her last name was blackthorn.
Isadora thinking to herself accidently blurts out, “I think that child in the story is related to me logically think about it I have a great grandpa named James and in the story James’s last name is Blackthorn just like mine.”
The chatter in the room rose once again, and was becoming a little out of hand Ms. Zorski was very aware of the situation and did not want her students involved with the abnormalities of life, so she changed the subject.
“Class, now it’s time for art I want you to draw whatever is on your mind I’ll be around to check your drawing shortly.”
Isadora always loved to draw and there was really only one thing on Isadora’s mind. It was her tail but more importantly the story, but how could someone draw a story and at her age too Kindergarteners really don’t know how to read or write.
Isadora decided to draw her tail. She hated her tail but its her mind that truly hates her tail. After Isadora finished her drawing, she had drawn two people. Dana Blackthorn and herself who was being torched by electrocution at the tail. While Isadora is chopping her tail off with a chainsaw, it was a very crappy drawing but it was easy enough to be able to identify what it was.
“Ok Class its time now for me to look at your drawings.” Isadora stood there smiling she was as happy as could be waiting for her teacher to look at her drawing but when Ms. Zorski came to look at Isadora’s her smile became a frown.
“This is very interesting Isadora I can see your not really happy about your tail.” Ms. Zorski said in a very concerned tone.
“Do you not like it?” Isadora asked.
“No I’m just concerned. Isadora are you a mean person?”
“No,” Isadora said shaking her head.
Ms. Zorski stood up and walked to the phone. “Yes may I speak to Katie Blackthorn please.”
“One moment please,” the woman on the other end replied. They then began playing elevator music as they put her on hold.
“Hello,” Katie said.
“Hi, this is Ms. Zorski and I am concerned about Isadora do you know anything about her.”
Isadora lost the conversation and began to cry. She knew she had to do something before her tail gets out of hand, though there was nothing she could do.
“Isadora your mom is coming to get you shortly,” Ms. Zorski said hanging up the phone.
April 22, 2002 the day the terror continued.
“Come on honey push,” Allen remarked.
“I’m trying Jesus god I hate you!”
“Honey calm down.”
“Don’t honey me!” Katie Barked.
“I can see the baby’s head just a little more,” the doctor said.
Katie pushed one final time with the scream of bloody murder the baby finally came out. “Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Blackthorn it’s a baby girl. After the doctors did, all that they had to do Katie finally got to hold her baby for the first time.
“Well Allen.” Katie said, “What should we name our daughter?”
Allen paused for a moment, “I have the perfect name. Her name is Isadora Melissa Blackthorn.”
“Allen may I have a word with you,” Said the doctor who delivered Isadora.
“Ok, Katie I will be back in a minute.”
Allen followed the doctor out of the delivery room and into the waiting room where they sat at a large brown table. It stuck out like a sore thumb, as everything in the room was white.
“Allen I want to discuss your tail.”
“What about my tail is there something wrong with it?”
“No not really, Allen you may not be aware of it but you are genetically capable of giving your daughter a tail.”
“So you’re saying my daughter has tail?”
“She might chances are good but it’s still too early to tell.”
“How am I going to tell Katie that our daughter may have a tail? She doesn’t even know I have a tail.”
“You never told your wife you have a tail?”
“I never told her because I was too embarrassed, and I thought that it would hurt our marriage.”
“Allen what did the doctor want to talk to you about,” Katie asked.
“He wanted to talk about Isadora.”
“Is there something wrong with her?”
“Yes and no,” Allen said under his breath, “I can’t let Katie know about me and possible Isadora. It will ruin our marriage. I know I’ll leave early tomorrow morning, and I’ll leave a note saying why I’m leaving,” He said to himself.
Katie woke up early the next morning from the cries of Isadora. She picked up Isadora, walked into the Kitchen, and saw a large letter sitting on the kitchen table. It looked to be very important but Katie was too busy with Isadora, but once she knew it was from Allen she knew it couldn’t wait. Katie quickly opened the letter and began reading the letter stated this:
Dear Katie,
I am sorry but I have to leave you. I must leave it would only be worse on you and me. I am leaving because I have a secret that I am too much ashamed of. I know this news must be hard for you to hear but you will thank me. I have moved up north and I’ve left you some money to support Isadora. With all due respect, I must leave take care of Isadora for me, and remember Katie I still and will always love you.
Goodbye From,
Allen Blackthorn
Katie read the letter over several times before she actually admitting that Allen had left her. It wasn't that he hated her he left for the sake of Isadora, Katie did the only logical thing and told her family, and before she knew it. She began to cry looking at her daughter laying in her crib unknowing her mom was in an awkward situation.
“Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday dear Isadora Happy Birthday to you how does it feel to be ten years old?”
“Very Good,” Isadora replied
Isadora was much too excited. She wanted to open her presents more than anything, Isadora had a very traditional birthday party with pizza and cake afterwards. It was a small party with her mom she didn’t want to have a party with her friends fearing her tail would attack them. Thought she would like the presents she’d rather avoid her tail being active. Isadora felt a thump on her lap and saw a present. She opened up her gift so fast she nearly ruined her own present. It was a book Isadora flipped through the blank pages and looked at her mom blankly confused shaking the book back and forth.
“Mother isn’t a book suppose to have words and or pictures,” Isadora disappointedly asked.
“Isadora this book is called a diary and a diary is a book where you can write your inner most thoughts or feelings about life and usually keeps daily events.”
“This may come in handy,” Isadora remarked.
Isadora opened the rest of her presents she got a kingdom hearts monopoly board and a bunch of money. Isadora didn’t really like the money as she had no use for it at her age. After Isadora finished celebrating her birthday it was past Isadora’s bedtime.
Katie awoke to the sound of blood curdling screaming. The sound was coming from Isadora’s room, Katie quickly ran into Isadora’s room startling Isadora with a scream. She had blood running down her face and on her shirt. Katie tried to calm her daughter down the best she could, but Isadora turned around and had red eyes almost as if she was possessed or something. She also had a vampire like mouth. Isadora jumped off the bed and started slowly creeping towards her mom on all fours like a wild animal and Katie was her prey. Katie backed away from her daughter with every step becoming more dangerous. Katie had no idea what Isadora was capable of doing but knew that she couldn’t stop it. The closer Isadora came to her mom the more evil she became until Katie hit up against the wall.
Isadora you have to stop this find the goodness in yourself. Please Isadora you have to stop I beg of you, YOU HAVE TO STOP, she screamed.
Isadora stopped and looked like she came out of a trance realizing were she was or how she even got there “Mom what are you doing shivering like a baby looking horrified,”
Katie paused before answering, “Sweetie you tried to attack me.”
“I did I don’t remember doing anything like that all I remember is being hit by tail,” Isadora said dumbfound.
“Isadora you really don’t remember what you just did?”
“Mom, I just told you no.”
“Honey I am taking you to a special doctor tomorrow we have to understand your tail more I can’t stand it hurting you or me.”
“Mom everything will get better I promise.”
“I hope so.”
“Mom I want to be normal I’m sick of my tail and being called a freak,” Isadora said beginning to cry putting her head into her mom chest.
“Everything will be alright we are going to figure out how to stop your tail,” Katie replied stroking her daughter’s hair.
“I love you mom.”
“I love you too Isadora,” Kissing her on the forehead falling asleep.
Isadora woke up and quickly ran downstairs, and saw her mom talking on the phone. Once she saw Isadora she started speaking in a dull whisper, as she didn’t want Isadora to hear the conversation. Katie hung up the phone and as fast as she hung up the phone the phone rang again, Katie this time was much happier.
“Hello, she replied in a perky tone.”
“Isadora can you turn down the TV” Katie asked.
Isadora was watching her favorite Saturday morning cartoons than getting yelled at for having it to loud.
“Ok I’ll see you then by honey. Isadora hurry up and get dressed you have a busy day ahead of you.”
“ Mom were exactly are we going?”
“We are going to a special kind of doctor that may give us the answer to why your tail is attacking people.”
“Oh,” Isadora said glad but unhappy Isadora doesn’t like hospitals all that much and being the patient isn’t any better.
“We are here,” Katie said knowing her daughter didn’t want to hear it in the slightest bit.
Isadora unwillingly got out of the car, and saw a huge white building and a large sign, which read: Andrew and Andrea Psych Mental Psychiatric Hospital and Treatment. If you’re sent here because you are insane but claim that you are not insane then this is a land full of chocolate pudding, the pudding is used as tranquilizers. If you claim to have mental problems and claim that you are insane then go to the local bar next door to drink your problems away because people who are insane don’t know they are insane.
Isadora read the sign and looked blankly confused, “What’s a tranquilizer?”
“Um a tranquilizer is a method of calm someone down making them fall asleep and is rather painful” Katie said.
Katie and Isadora both walked continued walking into the hospital it was no normal hospital as it didn't look like more like an office type building
“Yes my daughter has an appointment.”
“Name please there was a pause name please.” The receptionist said in the sweetest voice Isadora had ever heard.
“Isadora, Isadora blackthorn.” Katie said as the receptionist typed some information into her computer.
“I need you fill to some information out about Isadora,” she said handing Katie a clipboard with some papers attached.
