Hope quickly fades as night turns to day
People begin to awake
Thoughts and dreams begin to drift away

Eyes open to a new day
Hair becomes combed
Face is prepped

clothes are strung on bodies
Helpless bodies
Looking for a way to shine

A way to be noticed
Their personalities trapped inside the flesh
Is there a way out?

Have I come to a dead end?
… the point of no return?
No, there has to be a way

Maybe by the clothes that I’m wearing
Could I be noticed by wearing different clothes?
Or maybe by the shoes?

The jewelry?
My glasses?
By my make-up perhaps?

Or is it something more complex?
The way I walk?
How I talk?

No matter what the case
Being noticed does not involve material things
But by the way we think of our selves

We can be anyone
Anything
… As long as you think you can

Cheesy, it might seem
The way to be noticed is by being yourself
No one else

By becoming someone else
You cover up you
The you that’s yearning for a way to shine

By waking up being you
Hope does not fade away
As night turns to day

You do not ponder the thought
You know exactly how you’ll shine
And you won’t think of material things as your cover-up

You will be you.
