For the Dutchman's Poetry Contest.
There is no one to understand my pain.
There is no one to share my sorrow.
There is no one to feel for me in my plight.
There is no one to love and care for me.
There is no one to succour me in danger.
There is no one to lend me a shoulder to cry on.
There is no one to wipe out my tears.
There is no one to revel at my happiness.
There is no one to laugh when I laugh.
There is no one to cry when I cry.

But You are there to laugh with me.
But You are there to cry with me.
But You are there to protect me.
But You are there to ward off perils.
But You are there to share my tribulation.
But You are there to rejoice at my mirth.
But You are there to lighten my guilty burden.
But You are there to embed my soul into Yours.

Form: Anaphora
ANAPHORA: A rhetorical device in which several successive lines, phrases, clauses, or sentences begin with the same word or phrase; the opposite of epistrophe.
