Caleb the Brave

A long time ago
In a land far away
A dragon roamed free
Which no one could slay.

Knights came from far,
And knights came from near,
But couldn’t overcome
Their very own fear.

Then, one day came,
From a mysterious land,
The hero they needed
To lend them a hand.

Caleb the brave,
Upon his noble steed,
Would rally the people,
To follow his lead.

The people still feared
The dragon, so strong,
But Caleb did promise,
He’d not lead them wrong.

The dragon then came;
People cowered and cried.
Caleb promised protection,
Given his word, never lied.

With mighty sword drawn
Noble steed he did ride
And battled the dragon
Across the countryside.

For twenty-two days,
And twenty-two nights,
They fought unrelenting,
With all of their might.

Finally, exhausted,
They sat down to rest,
Each knowing the other,
Had given their best.

The dragon agreed
To find a new home.
And Caleb agreed
To leave him alone.

So Caleb the Brave
Had set them all free
No longer in fear
They could just be.

But some nights, in secret,
Caleb would disappear,
To visit the dragon
Without any fear.

Now good friends,
They had become.
Respect and pride,
They had both won.
