Sometimes it's OK to be a Bitch
November 26, 2008 at 5:01pm
Days since Layoff: 3 months and 7 Days. Emotions: Loving life, happy I'm 36, and realization. Daily Activities: Living the good life, cleaning, baking. I see myself as a fairly easy going accommodating person. I will do anything for my friends and family. Most of the time, I try to go above and beyond the call of duty. However, as anyone, I have expectations from my friends to reciprocate as well. Sure, there are friends that I chat with occasionally and see rarely where their presenc... [Read more]
Sometimes a Conversation can Lead to Self Growth
November 19, 2008 at 8:04am
Days since Layoff: 2 months and 30 Days, exactly 2184 hours Emotions: At this moment I feel uninhibited with the things I can do. Daily Activities: Long awaited "Spring" cleaning. Pretty sure I did it in the Spring though. I had a fabulous morning! I was just going to start my housecleaning of the kitchen and dining area when an old friend contacted me. It was one of those conversations where you are partaking in conversation but you're also taking a step back and thoughtfully l... [Read more]
The Pursuit of Happiness
November 19, 2008 at 8:04am
Days since Layoff: 2 months and 24 Days, exactly 2040 hours Emotions: Focus is much clearer, feeling relieved. Daily Activities: New Ventures and determination for a brighter tomorrow. For anyone who read my last article, you will realize that I had a decision to make. Well after many cups of coffee, restless sleeps, and a bout of vertigo, I made up my mind. The decision for me was NOOOOOOO!!! I want to thank everyone for their comments and support as it wasn't an easy hurdle to jump. P... [Read more]
A Little Thought, A Little Tumoil, A Little Education
November 19, 2008 at 8:02am
First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Brandon Crisp. This is a very sad case where it's becoming more obvious that it was a tragic story that ended in a horrific accident. Teenagers are head strong and I know in my experience, I've seen Christina stomp out my door and head down the road. Fortunately for me, she always returns within minutes. This has been an ideal example to speak to your kids about. Myself, I didn't sugar coat it and I will con... [Read more]
Do We Have the Right to be Prejudice
November 19, 2008 at 8:01am
Life is meant to be a journey filled with happiness, lessons learned, and finding our purpose in this world. With today's Presidential Election, we will witness history where a black man will be President of the United States of America or we could see our first Female Vice President. After discussing prejudice with a few friends this weekend, I tried to evaluate in my mind why some think they are better than those based on race, gender or sexual orientation. It also goes further than the... [Read more]
Unemployed in 2008..Can Anything be Worse?
November 19, 2008 at 8:01am
Days since Layoff: 2 months and 9 days Emotions: Thanking God that I'm not Brandon Crisp's Family. Daily Activities: Submitted story to CBC Literary Awards, Facebook, Reading Writing Magazines and Books, Roller Coast Tycoon, Housecleaning and Figuring out Finances. Yes, absolutely their could be many things worse than being unemployed. I'm an avid listener to Jeff Allen on 570 news. I love his common sense and his daily topics. Yesterday, the topic of Brandon Crisp and the in... [Read more]
Friends with Money
November 19, 2008 at 8:00am
Days since Layoff: 2 months Emotions: Pretty fed up and feeling demoralized Daily Activities: Cleaning, reading, facebook, signing permission forms, cooking supper, getting out of the house to maintain sanity and then realizing I have no where to go so I come back home. It's a fact, no one in this world is happier with wealth. It sure makes life a little easier, but it does not bring ultimate happiness. As I sit here very frustrated with my life as it is now, I realize that it isn't... [Read more]
We can only change ourselves; the rest we hang a carrott
September 30, 2008 at 6:37am
There is something to be said about this journey that I am on. This is quite possibly the first time in my life where I'm at a loss for words. I have applied to over 100 companies and some of them multiple times for different opportunities. I have received two calls and both did not pan out. It's getting quite depressing and the depression is definately winning me over this time. So I've tried my best and will continue to try again. I'm succumbing to fate. Where fate wants to tak... YOU have the Power
September 28, 2008 at 8:50am
So many of my friends, including myself, have the daily struggle of finances, marriage, children and career. Many of them are unhappy with one significant part of their lives. Some of them, unfortunately, feel the stress in all aspects. After doing a lot of thinking, I've come to realize that we are on this earth for a very short time. It could be tomorrow but it could be much longer. Either way, we truly do have to view our existence as temporary and we should live life to the fullest. W... [Read more]
Baring One's Soul
September 26, 2008 at 7:55am
I am taking the advice of one dear friend and going forward to write a creative piece for the CBC Literary Awards. I've been reading a lot of magazines and articles about writing and I found one very interesting piece during my reading adventure. I recently read a woman's blog who wrote of her blogging experience and referred to it as "baring one's soul". She recalled incidents where her peers would gaze at her with confused worry or even fright because of her willingness ... [Read more]
Tearful Goodbyes
September 25, 2008 at 1:02pm
Well today is a very sad day for me and many other people who know or once knew Kammy Langlois. She was a sweet, young girl when I was introduced to her. We used to deliver newspapers in the small town of Gaspe Quebec. Packing the newspapers at the crack of crazy every Saturday morning was a gruelling process as we had, in total, over 3000 of them. We would pass the time laughing and talking away and I think it was myself who was the most annoyed with the job. Kammy was only 16 at that time and ... [Read more]
