Manny never thought it could happen to her....
Her whole world seemed to be in shambles. She pulled her Sweater around her a little tighter. She stood there on the edge of the ocean, The waves occasionally came up and tickled her toes. She remembered when she was a little girl how she'd chase the waves. She get right up to them and giggle and scream as they came up and tickled her toes. That was when everything was good and happy in her life. Now here she was alone.
How did she even get to this point in her life? She was 18 and has lost just about everyone she'd ever loved. Her dad left her and her mom when she was only 10. Her mom well, she was never home, she spent her life at her office where she worked as a banker. Now her little sister had cancer. Her sweet little sister, Isabella. The little girl that always chased her around the house. Her bright eyes and pigtails would greet her warmly each morning. Izzy, as she called her, thought so much of her that she often called her "mom". Mainly because their mother was never home.
Now poor Izzy was stuck up in that hospital bed all alone. Her mom had to work and Izzy has school in the morning, so that left little Izzy all alone.
"Manuela are you doing okay." came a voice from behind her. It was her mother. Her dark eyes filled with tears.
"Mommy, why her?" Manny felt a sense of innocence come across her suddenly. Her mom sensed it too.
"Oh sweetie, These things happen and we never know why. I asked myself that very same question when your Papa left. Trust me now love, Asking yourself that never gets you anywhere. We have to be strong for her. Izzy needs us." Manny had never seen her mom so concerned before.
She only remembered her mother as a hard worker. Half the time she ignored Izzy and her, and kept to herself behind a laptop in her bedroom all hours of the night.
"Manny I'm sorry. Sorry for everything I've done, never being there for you girls when you needed me." There were tears in her mom's eyes as she stared out at the ocean.
her mom pulled her close.
"I know mom." Was all Manny Could say.
"Things are going to change I promise you that. Tomorrow we will spend all day at the hospital with Izzy. Bring your coloring books you know how coloring always cheers her up." Her mother said still staring straight ahead.
It looked as though things may finally look up for this family that had just about lost everything. Maybe after all Manny really had everything she ever needed right in front of her.
