Love and heartbreak.
I hold the flower in my hand,
And watch you as you walk away.
I look down at the daisy
And try to smile.
But instead a tear runs down my cheek,
Slicing like a dagger as it falls slowly,
Eventually hitting the ground.
I begin pulling petals off...
He loves me...
He loves me not...
He loves me...
I continue doing this
Until I get to the last petal.
He loves me not.
More tears stream down my face
As I drop the stem.
I remember the conversation we had
Just moments before.
I remember the look in your eyes,
As you told me you couldn't do this anymore.
I remember the tear
That slid silently down your cheek,
As you explained that you still loved me,
But you needed space,
Time.
Then you gave me the daisy
To try and make me feel better.
But all it did was add to the pain.
Then you walked away,
Never even looking back.
Now I stand here counting petals,
Remembering a love so strong,
A love that should have neve faded.
I know, deep down,
That I will heal with time.
But for now I mourn
A love that has been lost.
I look once more at the petals
Lying on the ground around my feet.
The beautiful flower shattered and broken,
A lot like my heart.
My tears continue to fall,
As I walk through the meadow,
Never looking back.
