Photograph

I am like a photograph
Subtle imperfections perfect my identity
The texture of the grain,
Smooth at first but rough below the surface
The edges worn and frayed,
Exhausted from the endless struggles
The colors faded,
Tired but never completely dulled
And its most vulnerable weakness:
The inability to stand on its own.
