Passion - What does it mean
Something to think about. What is passion? Is it an expression of self or is it a reflection our base emotions. What do we mean when we say we are passionate about something or someone? Do we use this word to hide behind the fact that we are obsessive about that thing or person? We always reflect on the words we use.

When I say that I am passionate - does this mean that I am a sensual person or a person who cannot restrain my sexuality. Will I use this word to excuse myself when I step out of line, to be rude and aggressive with a person of the opposite sex?

Or does it mean I am interested in my person as a sensual person or just a person. Can I see past our sexuality?

How about when we use it at work to describe our intensity about what we are doing? Do we use it as an excuse to mistreat people because we believe that they are not passionate about our cause and hence they are just in the way and we have to remove them? This is a word we use to move people aside to shuffle them out of the room so that we can be the brightest star.

Is a word that we use to control everything and everyone around us? We say that no one else understand how passionate we are about an issue. It makes us feel good when we use this word. It is enchanting, it justifies us it makes it okay to be aggressive and to dominate.

Am I being passionate when I am making love or just having sex? See the difference? If I am making love I can be passionate, if I am just having sex, it makes it’s seem as if I am devoid of emotion.

What if I said I was fucking, does that sound passionate? Hell yes, there is nothing more passionate than fucking, except maybe making love. All three describe the same physical act, but how we have learnt to express ourselves tells us that one is ok, the other is functional and the last is intense and maybe the most passionate.

What about kissing - is that passionate - I have had some cold kisses, even when I have had a tongue in my mouth - not passionate, just cold. I was on the menu, nothing more nothing less. I was a conquest, someone that she had slept with or just played with. And that was supposed to be passionate.

I love to be touched, that is how I connect to my partner, to hug to caress, to play. When I touch or am touched sometimes I think I can see my partner’s soul.

I have a friend that sometimes when she looks at me I feel if she can see all of me - she is looking through all of the barriers that I keep in place, she can see the real me. It is the most sensual feeling that I ever experienced when she looks at me like that. This is a person, who I can share my life with, a true life partner, a person that I feel I can be passionate with. Not in a way to control, but that I can let in, take away all of my fears, the faces that I hide behind. Someone that when I take off my clothes that I am truly naked. With her I feel - I have no reservations - I am passionate!
