This one's about having a more physical relationship and not spiritual.
laying on the grass hill we meet at every saturday night
naming all the stars we can, telling misunderstood stories about them
laying in your arms, hearing your heart beat
i felt a disconnection, a gap in the silence you speak
what aren't you telling me?
i want to be yours like this forever more
but i feel left out from you
and when i see the sunday light
it could be too late to talk all about us

(chorus)
why can't you just call me up at midnight
talking me to sleep
why can't you tell me all your fears and the things that hurt you
why can't you hold me, kiss me with the love you say is there
...why can't you...
i love to hear you breathe
i love it when you call me "honey"
i dream of the question
that will soon change our lives
but we don't have anything except touch
no sense of knowing who we are
makes us untouchable
and once again
i ask
why can't you?

show me i'm not just your girl
tell me all you are
sweet talk doesn't fix the bitterness
but truth fires up the road
the road i long to take with you
all the things that we'd come across
driving through desert or dreams
tell me what you want for yourself
to create a road no one would see
i'll be you empty, open book to fill
line by line
word by word
our love becoming a script
no stories
but stories of our poetry
be my poem
my love story
so tell me...

(chorus 2x)
