Many years ago, Lana Harris went down the street. It was a fresh spring morning. The nature around the dark grey road shone softly and wet. Green and dark brown colors dominated the visual impression of the landscape. Through the deep clouds a baby blue sky and the bright yellow sun woke up all her young senses. Lana enjoyed to breathe in the pure air deeply and calmly way. It was a moment when her soul felt in perfect harmony with nature. Bad dreams, which were the reason for a sleepless night before seemed to leave her body. What happened last night? She wanted to forget it all, but still she remembered it. It felt difficult not to break out in tears.

“Dad, why did you hurt mummy?” Inside Lana’s imagination, the picture of a man with short black hair, wide opened eyes and bitterly closed lips was thrust in her consciousness again. He wore black trousers, combined with a suitable jacket and a white t-shirt. With his forty years, Lana’s dad looked quite good, very serious. When women could see him standing in a friendlier place than in the middle of the kitchen, they would say: “Wow, what a man!” But under these circumstances, his large size and the strong facial expression appeared threatening. In moments like these, it becomes clear what outward appearance can be used for. It’s a mask to conceal the inner life of a human or to influence the people around you.

Mr. Harris had great success in using his dominant behavior to control his family who feared his aggression. They all knew from experience, how aggressive Rob Harris really could be if they weren’t careful. Eventually, the moment comes when every woman decides not to be any longer a victim of her own husband. Most women in this situation search for help from their family and friends. However, if it’s absolutely necessary, they go to the police before they confront the man with their resolution to break off the partnership. Mr. Harris was shocked the same way other men would be if they heard their wife’s plans to file a petition for divorce. He reacted, blinded by rage and in the following, Lana listened to terrible noises at night. Full of fears and sadness, she recognized the voices of her parents, who shouted out wiggings and reproaches to each other.

/ Once upon a time there was a girl / In her early years she had to learn/ How to grow up living in a war that she called home /

In too many cases children, just as their mothers, are the ones who suffer lifelong under the weaknesses of their terrorising partners. Young Woman like pop singer Christina Aguilera went through the same experience as Lana. In her song “It’s OK” she worked up the emotions from the past.

/ Everytime my father's fist would put her in her place / Hearing all the yelling,
I would cry up in my room / Hoping it would be over soon /

The weakness of the father seems obvious, but it is on the account of the mother. The result is mostly a strong woman. The strong woman leaves the man, who treats her disrespectfully. The strong woman helps her child in expressing their emotions. She is sensible enough to perceive that there are a lot! Furthermore, strong women are examples for their children, and not only for them, but also their men will pay attention to their attitude. Strong women are proud of what they did and what they reached. They are independent, self- confident and fierceful when necessary. – They do all that, because of poor men who have no strong personality!

/ After all you put me through / You´d think I dispise you / But in the end, I wanna thank you ´Cause you made me that much stronger /
