This is a poem of theft, treachery, and friendship.... |
"The King and the Thief" The king and thief were in the court The thief stole things of every sort The king stood tall, and as he looked down... The thief then stole the jeweled crown Before the king could count to three... The thief was taken to his knee Surely the crown was then returned Surely the court was then adjourned Only to commence the very next day... To assure the thief was put away The sentence recieved did fit the crime... A day in the hole, and ten years of time A decade passed before the thief's release... After his stay, he served the king a royal feast The king was honored, and attended with wife It seemed the thief had transformed his life But, the thief had a plan to all unseen... The thief had planned to steal the queen As the king poured the thief some vintage wine... It was clear the king had forgiven the heinous crime The thief swallowed heavy as his heart beat fast The king had forgiven him at last Two men as different as can be... Found friendship after theft and treachery An example can surely be taken from here... Forgive, forget, and count your friends as dear ---B.L. Houghtalin |
