Unchanging darkness engulfs the abyss of a broken soul
Loneliness binds its prey in complete control
In desperation groping to the left and to the right
Yet only emptiness is there, there's nothing in sight

A sudden quake of muffled screams break through the silence
Encompassing memories reminding of the shattered alliance
Deception as it was, played a song of broken trust
From deep within the core came the essence of lust

Wide open eyes fleeting across the chaotic past
Deep inside, the endless pain is amplifying fast
Unmoving legs in empty space counter any effort to evade
Throbbing veins, tightened chest, the visions will not fade

Loud voices a thousand times cry their words of death
Clenching fists, gritting teeth, the shortness of breath
Another curse another blow, blood seeps from the seam
All along still alone, oh to be free from this horrid dream

Taunting, hissing, pointing, laughing, the faces circle near
Stomping, kicking, punching, gnashing, hatred devouring prior fear
Hands to ears, sealing eyes, stronger grows their roar
Maturing to unbearable, a broken body hits the floor

Jerking awake, raspy gasps fill the quiet of night
That in mind, how easy it is to lose the will to fight
Remembering as reality returns: that was then and this is now
Though I've renamed you 'city of blood', I must forgive, somehow
