I've always enjoyed writing Haku. I've been cursed with a restless mind, and find it hard to wait for the next poem or story to rise. Haiku lets me play with words, connect them with something around me, in the moment, and often gives rise to a new idea. I also like the idea of saying as much as possible, with as few words as possible, unlike my speech in daily life, where I seem to say little--using a heck of a lot of words to do it. All of these Haiku are from my observations while living in the Pacific Northwest (US).
