in this second chapter, emotions are spread abroad like a colorful prism.
Atticus, sipping his soda mildly, considered his twin for a moment. “So you’re saying there’s a possibility that … it wasn’t him?” “Precisely,” Abbicus replied, “I mean, it makes sense – there’s always someone more topmost than you, but … something else, as well.” Atticus studied him, wondering what could be troubling him so – from his experience, the mastermind behind the mastermind was usually old, weak, and feeble, but if this was not the case, he wondered.

His brother almost seemed to read his mind. “K’s smart … too smart … why would he take a backseat to anyone else when he knows very well he could have his way with anything he wanted with the sole snap of his fingers. Unless, that is, that someone is stronger than him, and if that’s the case, well … needless to say, it would most likely end like our last battle.” Atticus did not need reminding, and the expression upon his face showed that. “I’d rather not think about that, right at the moment … I can feel the lust coming on – I’ll see you in the morning.” Neither said a word to each other, but this was rather common in the ‘Comadar Household.’

-some time around 6:00 am-

The door opened momentarily as a furious light shone in, a few steps, the closing of the door, and utter collapse upon the door way. Momentarily blinded by the burn of the light of dawn, it took him a little longer than it would another to realize just what had happened. Abbicus ran towards his older brother and picked him up, struggling slightly to carry the sagging load to its abode. He finally managed to set him down upon his own bed, breathing raggedly as his twin, did in fact, weigh much more than himself.

“Calm, cool, collected,” He said, reminding himself of his litany. This was his philosophy on most things and life, and what it really meant was “if you keep a level head, everything will be ok,” which may or may not have necessarily been true in most cases, because usually what helped his brother was the rush of adrenaline which came to him instantly each time he would see Abbicus in harm’s way. This was the bond they shared, and Abbicus would now have to give back that same love which he had been graced with as many times as he had been disgraced by the same event.

Thinking quickly, he went to the medical kit which was placed conveniently in every bathroom, so that there was always a first aid kit one room away in every room in the house. He studied it carefully, then remembering what his mentor had told him, then quickly followed the procedure of disinfecting the wound, applying the salve, then wrapping it tenderly within the bandages, not too tight and not too loose.

After that, it wasn’t long before he came to, realizing fully what had happened. He looked up, then, weakly at his brothers worrying and tear filled eyes. He took a deep breath and slowly sat up, gently releasing air every few inches or so. When he was fully erect, he embraced the other, the only one who could have understood, and began to count his lucky stars. The rest of the night was spent talking over what had happened, and though the vampire was partially asleep, one phrase did manage to penetrate and awaken him. It was not, in fact, uncle K.
