It is about a guy who pretends to be a Christian but gets saved just before he dies. |
One Last Chance Life is a journey. It has a wonderful end for some and tragic one for others. This is a story of a mix of both. It involves a tragic event yet a comforting experience also. I’ll start with Greg, the main character, who starts becoming closer with Lesley, his friend, and Kaley, his sister. The three of them gathered together in psychology as the first day in the second semester started. This was the first class Greg had experienced with Lesley in two years. To Greg having a class with his sister would be nice, because he would have someone to help with him with his homework right at home. The beginning of this started a closer relationship between Greg, Lesley, and Kaley. Kaley was a part of the schools “Bible Study” and enjoyed it greatly. Lesley had scene how much Kaley enjoyed it and had thought about joining it for awhile. She wanted to go with a friend to check it out though. Greg was someone Lesley felt really comfortable with. He did go to church but Lesley knew he wasn’t truly into Christianity. However, she decided to ask if he would be willing to go with her to one of the meetings to check it out anyway. A few days after the second semester had begun Lesley asked Greg if he would come with her to one of the “Bible Study” meetings. He said he didn’t really want to. Lesley was bummed but figured she would just have to think of some sort of compromise to see if she could get him to come. She deiced that if he went she would not ask him to come again; even if she started going weekly. Two days later Lesley proposed her comprise to Greg. He still wasn’t willing to go with her. That night Greg was lying in his room playing video games for a few hours. Due to this, his parents decided he needed to get more involved in school in order to have a better advantage of getting into a good college. They told him he needed to find a club or sports team to join with in a week. Kaley suggested joining the “Bible Study”. Sense all the winter sports teams already had tryouts and were half way over he figured he’d go ahead and try going to the “Bible Study” because he’d at least have a friend to go with him. At the same time this was going on at the Mazer home Lesley was thinking up her own plan to try to get Greg to check out the club with her. Her last proposal consisted of her tutoring him in math for two weeks if he would come to the meeting with her. In psychology the next day Greg told Lesley that he would go with her to the “Bible Study” meeting that day after school. Lesley wondered why the sudden change of mind but didn’t want to push her luck so she didn’t ask. That day after school Lesley met up with Greg and they went to the “Bible Study” meeting together. Kaley was already there to greet and introduce them to the rest of the club. At the meeting there was a game and then a short message relating to it. Greg figured that the whole thing would be boring but surprisingly found it interesting. It’s not too often you hear someone talk about discrimination in forms other than race. For some reason this seemed to stick in Greg’s head and increased his interest in his youth pastor’s message the next night. That Wednesday his youth pastor talked about how Jesus was discriminated and how Christians should be proud to stand up for him. He also asked if there was anyone who wanted to dedicate or rededicate his or her life to Jesus and help spread what he stood for. Greg wanted to take a stand but didn’t, because he had gone to the church for a few years and people already thought he was a Christian. Later that night Greg called Lesley to tell her what he had been feeling. Lesley said he should say the prayer and she’d guide him if he wanted and needed her to. Greg told Lesley that he would and did want her to help him if he needed it. For more support he got Kaley to listen and encourage him also. That might not seem like a huge deal but in Greg’s case it is. What happened next was something no one seen coming. A few days later when Greg was driving home from the store he was rear-ended and flew through the front window of his jeep. To say the least he was badly injured and not expected to live. His friend Chris saw the jeep and stopped to see if it was Greg and to call for help. Like he thought it was. Chris was able to call Greg’s family and tell them what happened. Two days later the visitation took place and the day after that the funeral was held. Lesley and Kaley told the funeral gathers that they guided Greg though the Salvation Prayer a week before. There was a bit of relief and comfort that came from learning that Greg had became “saved”. Nevertheless it was still a sad day. You never know when you might die. That is why you should live each day, as it is your last and let others know how you feel. God only gives us one chance to live and for some only one chance is all they get to try and find him. |
