Cho's wisdom

Have you ever been flipping through the channels in attempt to find something worthy of your attention while you heat up a burrito in the microwave and someone says something on TV that catches your attention. You don't really have to be watching that specific program for more than 20 seconds but for some reason, that little bundle of spoken words sticks with you like a good comfort food.
Well, that happened to me today. Relaxing after work, I was doing some mindless channel surfing when I came across Margaret Cho's comedy special that was airing on Sundance. She was talking about the war in Iraq and how some people were boycotting The Dixie Chicks because of the controversial comments they made.
Ms. Cho said something that probably wasn't original but it was fresh to my ears. She said "art is suppose to comment on current events otherwise we really wouldn't have art."
It made me realize how right she was. The best and most memorable movies, songs, comedy acts are basically insired and about 2 things. Love & society.
Why did our sentiment change? Why did one generation embrace Bob Dylan while this one vilifies The Dixie Chicks?
