This is just a poem about freedom and flight |
If I had wings I'd spread them wide And glide upon the wind Were I a bird I'd fly and fly And never touch earth again The birds have flown from sea to sea From the mountains to the shore And for this I am so envious They have the freedom I yearn for If i were a bird I'd fly to the heavens And whisper in God's ear And in those tumbling, cloud filled days I'd never shed a tear I'd sleep in the stars, laugh with the sun And sing along with the moon And if ever i were caged again For the great blue yonder I'd swoon I'd fly around the world and back again In the matter of a day Or take years as i dawdle at the sights to see All along the way And if my heart felt heavy Turned dark by some despair I'd just lose myself in the flight Vanish into thin air As I take wing every second Of every day I'd cherish the sweet caress As the sky folds me away Away into the forgotten clouds And mysteries unknown Into the Unseen arches Through which sunshine beams have shown But here I find myself Settled firmly on the ground And though my soul filies higher than high To this earth I am bound So now I lay down to rest To slip into my dreams And hope in them I'll take flight And burst my earthly seams |
