The Grass is Greener Over There
What if I told you that it's okay to procrastinate?
You wish. I'm never going to tell you that. But I'm going to give you some good excuses. Excuses that are going to be so great, that nobody will even dare whisper that 'p' word at you.
The elegant form of procrastinating is planning. Yes, planning is much more elegant that putting stuff off until next year.
So, here is your plan:
Since it's early in December, you should do an inventory of all the contests and activities that you took part in this year. Are they likely to happen again? If yes, you should plan to enter again.
Those would be: the official site contests, the birthday week activities in September, Writer's Cramp, and more.
Now is also a great time to see if any year-long activities or contests will be open in 2020. Get ready to jump on, ask the host any questions to get off to a smooth start come January.
Another bit of planning you should do is whether you think you'll want to be a host for a contest or activity yourself. January is a great time to pick up new participants. Everybody is full of good intentions toward their creative goals and more likely to jump on. Especially if you're starting to advertise your activity or contest on the official pages.
So if you're planning on offering any type of activity or contest, start planning out the page. What will be the best format? Message forum or survey? How often do you want to run it? Are there prizes? How big are the prizes and how many do you plan on giving out? How many participants do you need to make it worthwhile? Make a draft page and ask for reviews to make sure that all your rules and guidelines are clear to the readers.
