About This Newsletter

Life is filled with adventure! It just doesn't always feel that way...

This week's Action/Adventure Newsletter is all about the adventures we've had, and the adventures yet to come. And the Many Worlds theory, which was on my mind and worked its way in, in the hope that it will inspire you. *Smile*

Letter from the editor

If we are to believe the Many Worlds theory, there are infinite versions of us, each living slightly different lives. At any point a new copy of us can be created – a copy that turned left rather than right, or had that chocolate that we did not. Or, it’s not exactly like that, but there are physicists and philosophers who believe that there are indeed a great amount of versions of each person out there, possibly even an infinite number, and that’s quite mindboggling. I mean, if there are an infinite amount of copies splitting off from the me in this world, or reality, and there are an infinite amount of copies splitting off from each of this infinite amount of copies, and there are also an infinite amount of copies of you, and an infinite amount of copies from your copies, as well as an infinite amount of copies of everyone else who is alive right now, and who has been alive, and who will be alive, and infinite amounts of copies of their copies then that’s a whole load of worlds/realities, and it makes me wonder if they run side-by-side, or all somehow fit into the same space, or what... and what if the me I know, right here, right now, is actually just a copy somehow assuming that I’m the original Kit?

I find it fascinating, but I also know all too well that this one world, this one reality I find myself in can be difficult enough to navigate without having to worry about about all my “twins”. It’d be alright if I could communicate with them. We’d be a force to be reckoned with, I bet. Or, perhaps they’re doing a lot better than I am, and I’d feel like a bad version of myself. Or they’d be doing worse, and what if there was nothing I could do to help? It might be best, then, that we’re each doing our own thing in our own realm. Though I like the idea of there being a Kit out there who’s fulfilling all of my dreams... it’s nice that somebody is!

Anyway, it’s not so bad in this reality, is it? It could be better. Sometimes it does feel as though we’ve ended up in some strange timeline. I mean, when you look at what’s going on... But there’s a lot of good, too, and there are many interesting adventures to be had.

Each of us has already had many an adventure. We may not realise it, or look back and think some of them insignificant, but they weren’t, really. For example, our very first day in school. It seems like nothing big now, but it was when we lived it. Our first time riding a bike, riding a horse, going for a swim, going on a school trip, going abroad. Our first crush, our first date, our first kiss. Our first job, our first day at university, our first time living away from home. You’ve probably lived all or most of these, and may have lived or may yet get to live getting married, having kids, becoming a grandparent. All of these experiences and more are what make us who we are, and they’re exciting and take courage! Going to that first job interview may not be exactly the same as facing a dragon, but I’ve been to a couple that had me wanting to hide under my chair! And my holidays abroad weren’t quite like quests, but I can tell you some stories! I bet it’s not often that you get to drink a nice cup of hot chocolate with foreign police officers!

I’m facing an adventure right now. This Thursday – so tomorrow, if you’re reading this newsletter on the day of release – I am getting married. I wonder how many of my copies will be sitting down, too, writing a newsletter, feeling slightly anxious about the big day. Or, biggish, because I didn’t want a fancy wedding. Making that kind of commitment to someone is a significant step in one’s life, though. And entering married life is akin to entering a whole new adventure together.

I’m not anxious about the commitment. I know that I am making the right decision. I am anxious about being awkward and/or clumsy at the ceremony, in front of everyone, because I am an awkward and clumsy person. Let us hope, then, that this version of me will be doing everything as it should be done.

And I hope that I may have inspired you to write about life’s adventures, whether here or elsewhere. What is alternate you up to? *Smile*
