Letter from the editor

Nineteen years. That is eons in internet time. Nineteen years. That is eons in 'me'time. Or, actually, 'you' time. I've been here fourteen-and-a-half years now --I'll never forget being the scared newbie. I was terrified no one would like my 'stuff' and one of my first reviewers told me I wasn't a good writer. Been prooving that person wrong ever since!

I remember turning 'yellow' and dancing around. "Preferred" became my new favorite word. I was so very happy and scared and validated. In 2008 ( I think) I turned blue. I cried. Shortly thereafter I began working for a publishing company. A few years after that, I started my own. Suddenly writing wasn't fun, it was work - hard work.

Remembering a first phone contact with Ren the Klutz! Author IconMail Icon and being scared-to-death of her. Intimidated. Scared, Fyn? No, of course not ... yeah, right ... terr-i-fied! Ren and I are best friends these days. Silly me. Then there's Mara ♣ McBain Author IconMail Icon who, in turn, was terrified of me! Never thought I could terrify a flea! That phone call was the start of a sisterhood. She and Ren are family!

Then there is DRSmith Author IconMail Icon who calls himself my #1 fan. Humbling, given he's such a fine writer. Others, like A.T.B: It'sWhatWeDo Author IconMail Icon, became my muse.

WDC has fostered many other friendships for me as well as many, many other WDC-ers. Friends, family. Or simply writing buddies. I love Writing.Com. It's my home outside my desk, the first thing to pop up on my browser every morning. The StoryMaster Author IconMail Icon and The StoryMistress Author IconMail Icon are two amazingly awesome people on so VERY many levels. I'd be truly lost without them and this wonderful place!

Ask & Answer

Seabreeze Author IconMail Icon says:To the Editor: It is amazing how we can communicate such an important message and, in this case, by poetry. I want to first say, my blessings go out to you and your love one at this time. It is good that you share what has unfortunately had to come your way. My mom passed away due to a stroke (the second one) and I did not know she was having difficulty until the second one. Thanks so much for your openness; many will truly appreciate the poetry, but the message is so important.

Thanking you

Monty Author IconMail Icon writes: Thank you for the introduction to Toni Morrison Anew one to me.

Always good to discover new (to us) poets and writers, eh?

eyestar~* Author IconMail Icon says: OH wow! Thanks for sharing this wonderful tribute to Toni! I had not heard the news.
