Letter from the editor

Are Blogs Old School?

Blogs have been around for ages, it seems. But are there ways that you can use your blogs in new and fresh ways?

Even I am guilty. My little blog on here, I haven't used it in ages. I think, though, I fell into the same habit many have. I use my blog as a place to gather my daily thoughts. More as a... personal journal, of sorts. Which is fine, for what it is. Except that not all of my thoughts should be public. Some of them are quite private. And then, I came to a time in my life when I didn't want to share all of my life publicly anymore. Now, I left the part of my life that was already public up, so you are welcome to peruse if you are curious - there's some pretty painful stuff there - but as I got older, I became more... private, I suppose. For multiple reasons.

However, blogs, anymore have... morphed. Many blogs have become less of 'personal journals', and have morphed into something where there are 'themes', even, in some cases. There are blogs about almost anything in the world, anymore! Think of them more as... the opinion article sections in the newspapers, except... instead of just a page or five, there are, millions of them.

So, if you are one of those who are running a successful blog, that's wonderful! Please share it with me in the "Submit to this Newsletter" section, and I'd love to share it in my next newsletter!

If you are one of those who wants to run a successful blog, but have either been unsuccessful, or you have not yet had the opportunity to try, I encourage you to think outside the box. Look for something unique. Something that, perhaps, you are greatly knowledgeable about so you can share that knowledge with other people. (You would be surprised what other people are interested in learning.)

Blogs do not have to be journals. They can be informational, too! So, let's get those bloggy blogs out there, take them out of the "old school" journal days, and get some new ideas out there!

Oh, and don't forget to research to see if there are already thousands of blogs with the same idea. Read a few of them. If you can do the same thing, but do it better, I say, "Go for it!" If there are already amazing ones out there, I'd say, "Try something different." So, jot down a few ideas, do some research first, and then settle.
