This month, for March, I thought we could look at a very special contest, which was created by,Andrew in 2007. It is the Quill awards, which awards and puts a spotlight on quality work created by awesome authors of writing.com.
Writers are nominated each year by their fellow writers on the site. It recognizes all of the writing genres as well as groups, contests, activities, portfolios, and raffles & Auctions and much more. It is especially designed to find the best and brightest of the site. The nominee's item must be written in the current year; for example the Quill will be awarded to those nominees who wrote an item in that year, 2018.
We should recognize those who work so hard on providing this outstanding contest annually. People such as;Elle - on hiatus and again Andrew .
They use the donations, made by you special members of writing.com, to award spectacular awards and large amounts of gift points. It is for those special few who proved themselves valuable-- by their writing skills, and great ideas in activities and contests. If you want to donate to this worth while cause I am sure it would be greatly appreciated by the folks who run the contest. It is an expensive contest to run I'm sure. Prizes are phenomenal.
We are now witnessing the 12th annual Quill Awards, which nominations for the award ended on the end of January 2019. However, the 13th annual Quill Awards are now accepting nominations for the 2019 season, and remember the nominee's item must have been written in 2019 for next season's ceremony. So if you know someone who deserves to be recognized by their peers for work well done; then you can nominate them by going to,
and entering their name and the item which you think deserves this special honor in the 2019 nomination form. Items must be written in 2019.
I do not have the room or time to shine a light on the 2018 winners or nominees, but you will see them if you look on the newsfeed, after the awards are given out . I would like to congratulate all of our 2018 nominees. You have shown yourselves to be stars among the best writers on line. I would like to add that all of the authors on writing.com are special and have talent. I appreciate the work and dedication that you all give to this site.
I spoke with Elle and she enlightened me to when the Quill ceremony will be held.
According to Elle, " The PreQuill ceremony, where we announce the finalists in the big categories and make early announcements of Quill winners in some smaller categories, will be held at 2:30pm WDC time on Friday 29th March.
The Quill ceremony will be held at 2:30pm WDC time on Saturday 13th April.
Both ceremonies will include announcements and discussion in an in-and-out here on Writing.com which all members can participate in, and will be accompanied by a live feed from You tube with a panel of WDC members announcing and discussing the awards. Previous ceremonies have included live poetry readings, so you never know what can happen! "
She also added, "2019 Nomination Form for Quill Awards" . There are 37 primary categories in the areas of static writing (poetry, stories, etc.), non-static items such as blogs or contests, reviewing, community contribution and best overall portfolios. More details for each can be seen on the nomination form. Then the nominated items are sorted into genres (based on the genres selected by the author) and the best item for each genre category is voted on by the WDC community. Anyone can vote. The other categories are judged by a panel of judges. Anyone can volunteer to be a judge.
Ultimately, the Quills is BY the community, FOR the community. Items are nominated by the community, judged by the community and the awards are donated or sponsored by the community. Anyone can participate."
I know that I am looking forward to this spectacular event and I'm sure others of you are as well.
In addition to the awards, there is an activity to raise points for the awards,
I ask you that you purchase a raffle ticket to help and support the Quill Awards...
