Letter from the editor

Happy Almost New Year!

Perhaps by the time you get around to reading the newsletters, it will be a new year! So here I am, with my annual reminder to set goals and check on them once in a while throughout the year. I'll be doing the same, trying to do things that give personal pleasure. (Not THAT kind!) The kind that leaves me with a feeling of satisfaction, like writing something I've been thinking about. Editing a story I've been neglecting. And of course, helping here at WDC. The last couple years have been busy for me, so WDC had to move down the list of priorities. I still took time to write but not share as much with my WDC community. So that's my personal goal, hang out here at WDC and reconnect.

Speaking of goals, there's the site contest coming up that ties in to your new year resolutions. It's called "Dear Me: Official WDC ContestOpen in new Window. and encourages you to write a letter to yourself with goals for the upcoming year. And even if you don't have time to enter the contest, I'd like to encourage you to give it some thought, perhaps even some planning.

If you'd like to host an activity, or a contest, start planning now. You can always keep the item on private until you have it fine tuned for the public. This gives you ample time to decide how many gift points you'll need and if you might need help with the plans and running the activity. Talk to friends and see if they have suggestions or would like to help. Timing is also important too, you wouldn't want to run your contest while something big is going on at WDC or when you have a personal commitment that would take you away from the site.

Most of all, planning ahead gives you time to promote your item and get it visible to as many members as possible. This means more members interested and active in the item. In the end, we would all like to be more successful in the new year, so here's wishing you the best. Write On!
