Time is of the Essence

What do we really know about time?

*Clock* We can measure it.
*Grave* It runs out.
*FlowerY* We can see what time of year it is according to the flowers that are in bloom.

*Stop* We can't stop time.
*CountryUS* *CountryAU* We don't have the same time everywhere.

When writing a mystery, stay aware of the time. For instance, many a murder-mystery was solved by either excluding a suspect because they weren't anywhere near the scene of the crime AT THE TIME. Some have been convicted of a crime because they were there AT THE TIME. That is why everyone needs an alibi. Do all of your suspects have alibis?
Even a suspect who has a bulletproof alibi can be the culprit.

There was a novel in which a woman used TIME TO KILL her husband. How did she do that?
The couple lived near the ocean. An area with very low tides and rushing high tides.
She changed every single clock in the house.
The husband left the house and went out onto the low tide area believing that the tide was receding.
In reality, the tide was coming in.
The man drowned while the wife was at home doing something that would give her a bulletproof alibi for the TIME OF THE CRIME.

As you see, time can be treacherous to the best clock readers in the world.
