The purpose of this newsletter is to highlight some of the current contests and activities on the site, help educate members on how to host contests and activities, and provide clues to submit quality entries to contests. Write to me if you'd like something in particular covered.
The holiday season is over for those that celebrate this time of year, and the new year is just days away. What are your plans for 2018? As usual, I have a few suggestions.
Spruce up your past contest entries and send them out for publication.
Look over last year's contests you hosted and review what worked, what did not and what you'd like to change for the next round. Now is the time to fiddle with your format, raise some gift points for prizes (check out "Good Deeds Get CASH!" ) and recruit some help if you felt overwhelmed last time.
Think up something new to do. Whether it's a contest, an activity or fundraiser, think of some new ideas. While there are only so many formats for certain activities, the theme for them is unlimited. Look around and see what's been done and what ideas pop into your head.
Think about what contests you'd like to enter in the new year. It's never too late to have a few plot ideas and interesting characters in your back pocket. Write it down. Especially if you're a last-minute-louie when it comes to entering. Check out the "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com" and "Activities @ Writing.Com" pages to see what is currently running on the site.
So while you are relaxing and enjoying the relative quietness of January, do a little planning and see what ideas you come up with.
This month's question: What was your favorite contest in 2017? Send in your answer below! Editors love feedback!
Excerpt: This activity challenges you to write and review at least once a week for all of 2018. Each week, you are asked to enter at least one writing contest. You must also review the fellow writer who posted his/her story in this forum right before you.
Excerpt: Have you ever watched a movie or a television series and said to yourself I could do that? I could do better, or I would have written it differently? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then this is the contest for you. And if you are a script writer or ever wanted to be one, then this contest is definitely for you too.
