When you're writing you're constantly fighting demons to sit down and do what you do. If you listen to the voices outside your head, in addition to the ones inside your head, you'll never get anything done. There's enough inner strife.

Many of us battle our own inner demons without ever revealing them, without ever telling anyone about them, never sharing the real truth of what haunts our days and dreams. Not all are terrible, not all of them are on a major scale but sometimes, we have simply cannot escape them.
Just like us, the characters we write about have to deal with their own inner demons. If we are affected by them, so are our characters. Our struggles, the ones we don't like to share with anyone, turn to the world of fiction in order to find a solution, a way out, some sort of fix-it. In a way, we should be able to find a middle ground. Finding a balance isn't easy and the struggle can be great but if you give in to your writing and let it go, let it come from your heart, the solutions to your struggles may come to you much easier.
Let's face it. We all have one thing or another we're dealing with. Nobody's life is perfect but that's what makes us us and that's what makes our world go around. We make the best of it and take it one step at a time. Perhaps, if you let it, your characters are able to lead you on a soul searching journey to ease the trouble you're dealing with, without you even knowing it. Give it a try. See what comes of it.
