Letter from the editor

Merry Christmas!

While everyone around you is freaking out at all the last minute preparations, I implore you to find the comedy in everything. It will lighten the mood and reduce stress. Just think, as you are reading this newsletter, I am either in surgery or recovering from surgery. For me, this surgery is a lifeline and a Christmas gift to myself. So, let your gift to yourself be laughter!
We are already having a good time here. The dogs love the Christmas tree, and it’s a miracle they haven’t knocked it down. It’s their favorite place to wrestle with each other. *Facepalm* And if they aren’t knocking ornaments off, then my son can take their place. He threw a tennis ball out to the living room from the dining room and hit an ornament. He knocked it off its own top! The hook with the ornament top was still on the tree and the bulb didn’t break. I was in awe at his talent. *Laugh*
Then there are all these secrets going on around the house. My kids each like to pick out a gift for the other. This year they’ve picked out the same thing. They will be so surprised on Christmas morning when they open those gifts. *Smile*
And if you want to juice up the laughter, then I can assure you there are many, many hilarious movies out there. My husband and I watch "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation" every year! And we have since we were first married in 1997. It's the ultimate laugh-fest. It's definitely not rated G, though. The rule in our house is adults only. I know, that's bad, but it will make you roll on the floor and laugh. *Rolling* A few of our other faves include the following: Elf, Jingle All the Way, The Santa Clause (all 3), and if you really want to laugh hard, watch "Madea's Christmas" from 2013. I've watched it three times this year already! But, my favorite Christmas movie of ALL time is "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" with Jim Carrey.

So here's wishing you a Holly Jolly laughter-filled Christmas!
Until next time... live, laugh, and write!*PenR*

Thanks for including my flash "Nipped" in the newsletter.

You are most welcome! *Smile*

I realized recently most of my what-if questions had rather morbid endings- and since I usually ended up asking myself that question when traveling alone, I'm not too sure writing it out would be a good idea: I'd likely scare myself into not wanting to travel ever again! *Laugh*

No way would that happen! You are a globetrotter, girl. You've done more in your young life than I could ever dream of doing.

In 1895 Gelett Burgess, an American writer, wrote a nonsense poem called Purple Cow. Then in 1897 he wrote another poem "Confession: and a Portrait Too, Upon a Background that I Rue" that featured a Purple Cow. These poems can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Cow. A purple cow is also a float that features grape soda and chocolate ice cream.

Thanks for the awesome share!!! I checked it out, and definitely had to laugh!!!
