Stress-Relief
I don't know about all of you, but I personally find myself frazzled and overwhelmed from time to time. More often than I'd like to admit probably.
For me, writing and Writing.Com are a break from the hustle and bustle, the everyday life that can pile up and feel overwhelming. My last newsletter focused on the importance of taking breaks to increase productivity, and this is sort of an extension of that, I suppose.
Writing, for many of us, is a pleasurable hobby, but it can sometimes turn into a cause of stress. If we're worried about deadlines or finishing a project or hearing back from a publisher/publication, writing can be a source of stress at times.
How can we deal with that stress? Well, here are a few ways that I know to relieve stress:
Write for fun. Take a break from your "serious" writing and find a fun contest to enter, perhaps something "quicker" like "The Writer's Cramp" or "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge" or try out an activity like an In & Out, a quiz or a madlib. These activities still entice your creative side though they may provide a much-needed respite from your more serious endeavors in your writing career.
Take a walk. Okay, so this one involves leaving our loving home, Writing.Com. Sometimes some fresh air can do wonders for relieving stress. Connecting with nature can really help clear your mind. Then come back here and write about what you saw or what inspired you!
Talk with a friend. Whether it's picking up the phone and calling someone, sending an email/text, or finding a good discussion forum, sometimes connecting with someone else can help you take a break from your own mind and world.
Host something! Take a break from focusing on your own writing by creating a contest or activity for other's to enter!
Review! Reviewing is probably my favorite part of Writing.Com. It has SO many benefits and rewards. See "Reviewing On Writing.Com"
Although the above are good ideas for simple stress-relief, if you find yourself truly overwhelmed, please seek the help of a friend or professional.

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (September 28, 2016)" ), discussed Taking a Break..
I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding breaks. When I hit a wall or need to try to figure out correct word selections, especially for my poems, I will take a walk, or go to my bag of knitting or crocheting and work on them. Not only are they calming, they help me untangle my thoughts.
