Letter from the editor

I must have had a crazy moment when I decided to pick up another Comedy Newsletter to write for, but here I am! Comedy may not be my forte but I do enjoy reading it. There are a few friends of mine on this site who are rather good at writing comedy. Some people simply have a knack for writing funny stories or poetry. It's a natural part of their existence. Others, like me, struggle to create something which should make you laugh.

The best part about comedy is when it's not forced. The words flow from your fingers and when people read it, they can feel the honesty in those humorous moments. Trying your hardest to make something become funny will not only backfire but would sound rather hollow. Go with the flow.

Romantic comedy would be my favorite kind, because I have such a romantic heart, although few would believe me. My life contains an entirely different type of comedy however. Just random acts of stupidity. Funny to others, but not to me.

When writing a scene which you hope will make the reader laugh, how do you approach that part of writing? Plan it out? Does it simply come to you? Our writing contains many of our life's experiences, even if we don't see it. Other times we write about things we find hilarious ourselves. Certain parts can be those 'you had to be there' types but mostly, we draw from our own surroundings and our own sense of humor.

What's the funniest thing you wrote about and how did people perceive it?

'Til next time!
~ Gaby *WitchHat*
