Everybody is worthy of love. Sadly, we don't always feel it.
This week's Spiritual Newsletter is all about love, and why you are loved, too.

Do you ever feel unloved? Uncherished? Uncared for? I think that many of us do, at some point in our lives. I know that I have, on several occasions, and it is not a nice feeling at all. In fact, it can be incredibly discouraging and even do psychological damage.
It's even worse when you begin to believe that you are unlovable. Feeling unlovable brings a shift from circumstances (there isn't anyone in my life who loves me) to something that is built in (it is impossible for anyone to love me). That is a truly destructive mindset, especially in the long run.
It is possible to be unloved by people. Some families don't function very well. Or, all family members and friends might have passed away, later in life. It is possible to be isolated from others, due to a variety of reasons. I don't believe that anyone is unlovable, however. If even the worst criminals can receive love letters when in prison, everyone else should be fine.
Everyone has their positive and less positive traits. I, for one, am awkward, clumsy, too serious at times and too childlike at others. I'm shy, an expert at procrastination, can bore people endlessly about things that have captured my interest or imagination, and I have very few practical skills. Yet, as I have found out, I am not unlovable.
I have people in my life who love me, despite all my quirks and flaws. I have cats who love me and who greet me with their tails high in the air when I walk up the street – and not just because they want food. Beyond that – and this has been difficult to accept for me, as I always have endless questions about spiritual matters – I know that there is a Higher Power who loves me. How do I know? I know because at the times my life was most at risk, He was there for me.
There was a time, when I was a child, when I nearly drowned. There was the time when I was an adult, and someone nearly succeeded in ending my life. I don't remember much about the first instance, except a sense of peace and safety... that all would be well, and, indeed, I did survive. The second time I felt as though I was in the presence of an angel, wrapped in his wings. Safe and secure, once more. Protected. And I knew, then, that I would once more survive. The doctors called it a miracle.
Some people might say that these visions and sensations are a trick of the brain in a time of crisis. I obviously cannot disprove that. I was a bit too busy with what was going on to analyse everything in perfect detail. I only know what I saw, and felt.
Those same people – other others, perhaps – would question why, if God loves us, He/She/It allows horrible things to happen to us and I don't have a real answer to that, either. In fact, I am probably the worst person to ask, because as I said, I have endless questions myself, and my beliefs are all over the place. The best I can figure it out is that life happens. The good and the bad, the beautiful and the horrific. Life interacts with life in a variety of ways – after all, even illnesses are life. That doesn't mean that there isn't a Higher Power who cares – loves.
I felt loved. And if I am loved, you are loved. How do I reach that conclusion? Well, you have seen my description of myself, right? We all have our flaws, as said, but that doesn't mean that we are unlovable.
It doesn't matter what faith you have, or if you have none at all. You are not unlovable. We all have something inside of us worthy of love, from people, from other species, and from a Higher Power. That is something quite wonderful, when I think about it. I hope that you feel the same way.
