THE DARK-SIDE OF LOVE
How would you feel if you lost your only child?
We are capable of loving someone so strongly that when that person is taken away it reveals unknown aspects of horror.
I can't imagine how someone would get through something like that. I mean, you love your child beyond anything else in your life, and then they are simply snatched away.
How do you cope?
Why is Love so dangerous?
It's what I call 'The Dark-Side of Love'.
It's when your loved-one goes off to war and never returns. Or when the love of your life says they don't love you anymore. It's like when you love someone so deeply you're willing to die for them and yet it makes you feel as if your heart is burning down to ash in your chest.
Is there any stronger kind of Love?
Don't get me wrong, Love has its positive aspects too, but I've seen what it can do to people, and it ain't pretty. How can so much pain come from the best emotion in the world?
Everybody loves and wants to be loved by others. It is in our nature, our DNA, and yet we have absolutely no control over what happens next. We are totally at its mercy. We are forever in its grip.
LOVE is too small a word for what it does to people.
Until next time, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

I started going through my Horror catalog to see how many stories I had written about 'love scorned' and was amazed at the number. I am not a total romantic, and yet I have been hurt by Love more than a few times in my life.

Comments:
Hi Bill!
You're so right about Bowie (and Coltrane). Sometimes art needs to be seen/experienced/read numerous times before the whole thing sinks in. But finding the hidden meanings and interpretations are worth it!
Great newsletter!

Great Newsletter, W.D., and a fitting tribute to David Bowie!
I haven't seen that video yet, but after reading about it, now I HAVE to see it!

I would love it if this entry could be considered. I don't know the topic for next month's newsletter, but I hope that this piece just happens to exemplify some of the pointers brought up in a future edition.
I don't get around to promoting myself very much on the site, and I think it would be great if a few others had the opportunity to read this.
