Have your New Year's resolutions all planned out and written down? Here's to hoping for another good year full of writing and great ideas, right?
Not everyone works well with well laid out plans. They're a great idea and all, but eventually, things get in the way, life throws you a curve and next thing you know, it's the end of another year and all the things you planned and hoped you'd do, haven't come to fruition. The goal is not to ruin your plans here, just trying to be realistic.
I'd love to take a year off work, as would many - I bet! - and work on that novel you've been holding off on for quite some time now. Life works differently. You can't just put everything on hold in order to do what you'd like. Someone has got to do the dirty work, and you just cannot take a vacation from life.
While setting goals and planning ahead works for a lot of people, there are some of us who just don't know how to get with that kind of program. Time is always of the essence. That's why I make big plans for the entire year, only to do a small amount of them. There are two things I enjoy on this site. Writing for myself and creating things which are very confusing but also fun for others to participate in. Everything else can wait. Everything else may have to get in line until I get to them.
The only thing you can't do is to stress over any of it. Of course, we always do, and it seems like an inevitable part of life, but you have got to stay focused on what's important to you. The things which make you enjoy yourself - do that! Writing, participating, taking vacations, anything which will get those writing juices flowing, do them and use them to your advantage.
There will be days where you'll require some nudging in the right direction. We all have those days! Use some inspirational quotes, print them out and place them around your work space so when those days come, you'll read the words and find your happy place and perhaps, even your muse.
'til next time!
