I am a stay at home, dyslexic, homeschooling mother of 6. I only ever wanted three things in my life.. A good husband, wonderful kids and to be a writer.
High School gave me the chance to find my husband Clanbear . The Universe blessed us with a good marriage and awesome kids. WDC gave me a chance to at least feel like a writer. They embraced me with all my writing flaws and gave me the chance to do this newsletter every month despite my obvious shortcomings.
Friends have jokingly suggested that I drank the WDC kool-aide. I will happily agree. I did and I am so glad I did. Here is to all of our new members finding their writing home with us as well. |

Welcome to all of our newest members and Hello from Nanoland to all of our long established ones. I am taking a brief break from the grind of National Novel Writing Month to say Hi and remind all of you that it doesn't write itself, well more specifically remind myself that it doesn't.
See, Yesterday was a disaster for my word count goal. I barely got a thousand words of the eight thousand words I needed to get back on track for my personal goal. Today, Sunday the 15th, I am writing this from the laundry mat because I can't let the man go to work in dirty clothes, and I have to get my word count.
It is easy to develop a story idea. Its not even that hard to create characters that begin to live with you. What is difficult is remembering to put yourself behind your computer and write said story. There is always something that "needs" to be done. There is always something that seems like it might be a better thing to do at the time than write. Hanging out with the kids playing video games or board games, comes to mind, which is where most of my writing time went yesterday.
However, no story ever wrote itself even the ones that feel like the did. So let me encourage you to take a break from everything this month and write something. Anything. It doesn't have to be a fifty thousand word novella or even a ten thousand word essay. It can be a two hundred and fifty character micro story but whatever you do...
Write something. It will make you feel better and it won't write itself. |
A shout out to all of our newbies who did write something and post it to join us as a black case.
