Adjustments: When the Puzzle Pieces Don't Quite Fit Together
Boy, this living together thing just isn't turning out the way I had planned. Two months and carpenter ants, bed bugs, putting together furniture, and fighting over bills later, here we are living in "bliss." I'm working full time, he just started a new job, and we're either always feeling like we see too much or each other or not enough.
In short, the pieces of the puzzle have just not fit together perfectly. It's like when you're building a jigsaw puzzle and you can't make the last piece fit. You turn it around, trying to match up the colors and shapes, until you're really frustrated. You think about giving up, even though you're so close. You consider taking your Exacto knife and cutting the piece to fit. But you know what? Things may not have gone exactly perfect, but that's ok. Life is like that sometimes. We've already put all the time into creating our beautiful masterpiece and there's no turning back now. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Special Note from Crys-not really here : This is the first Newsletter I've written since news that The StoryMaster and The StoryMistress 's five-year-old daughter Phoebe has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Many years ago, before either of their children was born, I had the honor to meet The StoryMaster and The StoryMistress . They are a big part of what I love about this community, and also why this website feels more like a second home to many of us. Please send your prayers, good wishes, good thoughts, cosmic rays, or whatever you believe in, in their direction. |

I love feedback! In my last Newsletter, I asked what YOU what you love about WDC, in celebration of our birthday. Here's what you had to say!
I celebrated 10 years with Writing.com this year. It's been a wild roller coaster ride but I've loved every minute of it! I joined the site to explore writing, to develop as a writer, and to learn how to tell an exciting, dynamic story. Writing.com has given me that and in 2010 I became published. I'm still exploring writing, but at a more slowed down pace due to real life, but I enjoy giving back to Writing.com with the Bard's Hall Contest. If I can help develop a writer, as I developed, than I know I helped here on WDC.. -SantaBee
I'm not sure Love is the correct term for the way I feel about WDC, but I deeply appreciate the feedback I have received. While there have been a few reviews that have left me wondering at the point made. On the whole I received honest, helpful input. The critiques have helped me to make the difficult decision about dropping a certain passage or story in a book I am currently writing for submission in an anthology. Thank you. -firstwriter42
What can I say? Writing.com helped me become a published author. As a newbie in 2007 I struggled to find my way within the site as it was still in the growing stages too. I found wonderful classes and classmates to share my journey. I wrote, read and reviewed over the years hoping to be a member in good standing. My short stories were refined, submitted and accepted for publication. When I finally had my book accepted to be published, here is where I first posted my success. It has been a journey and l love sharing it with my friends. I've gone back to work part time. My involvement is limited, but my heart is here always. -Quick-Quill
Ah . . . why do I love WDC? It's my second home. It's my home inside of my home. It's the place where I go to socialize, to connect with like-minded individuals, to read and review others' writing, and to share my knowledge and glean knowledge from others. Without WDC I would never have been able to write an entire YA trilogy, and the majority of another YA novel. The support I have received in helping me to plot, learn how to build worlds and characters, and hone my craft have been invaluable. The joy I receive in helping others do the same is just as important to me. I have met many of my WDC family in person. I hope someday soon to have the pleasure of meeting Crys-not really here in person, as well! -Mumsy
It was just one of these days in November when you feel need to change something in your life. Instead of logging in onto my Facebook page that day I opened browser on my Dell and typed WRITING because I felt uncontrolled urge to write something more than regular I'm drinking coffee with my bestie in Puerto Rico today. Awesome Google offered Writing.Com as the first option and I clicked to check it out. The rest is history.
I could never explain what I feel about this site and people within to someone who is not part of it because they all are looking at me weird. There's a word for it, actually. EXULANSIS--the tendency to give up trying to talk about an experience because people are unable to relate to it. Now, you asked what I think that keeps us together, what features, people, events or relationships. It's not just events, features, people or relationships we face every day when we log in, it's ALL OF IT together. It's EXULANSIS but without giving up because we understand you just when you say Writing.Com.
Awesome newsletter by the way. -~Minja~
I didn't discover WDC in as much as a friend who is an 'occasional' visitor recommended it to me, and sent me the link. She had read some of my early poetry (they were rough in some cases), and thought I should have more exposure, thought more people should read them. Once I came here, I created an account immediately, and have never left. This is my internet home, I'm here every day no matter what, and I love it. -{user:(sum1swriting} |
