Happy Veterans Day! With the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we're all a little more aware of how others give up a bit of their freedom to defend and protect ours. I always like to spotlight our military this month (being a veteran myself) and tackle romantic/love issues that being in the military present. This month, I'm looking at long distance relationships.

Distance can certainly be a problem in a military relationship, especially when your loved one is deployed overseas. Here are some ways to make it work:
Communicate in some way everyday, and if you can, more than once. Modern technology has helped make the communication almost instantaneous. There's blogs, you tube, text messages, Skype, a phone call, and email. When I was in the service all we had was good old-fashioned hand written letters and phone calls. (that was the late 80's, early 90's) When I left the military in 1997, emails were just getting popular.
Visit as often as you can, time and budget permitting. Create rituals and traditions that are fun.
Get to know each other – really know each other. The little things mean a lot. For example, if your partner likes to dance, take dance lessons.
Support each other. Be there in sickness and health. Discuss the expectations of your relationship.
Celebrate the boring parts of your day, like grocery shopping and rearranging the furniture.
Send gifts. Photos and little trinkets go a long way.
Remember – love letters are classic!
Challenge: Write a love letter. It can be from you to your deployed sweetie overseas or between two classic lovers like Romeo and Juliet. I'll award my favorites a 10K awardicon and feature it in a future Newsletter.

Feedback from my 15 OCT 2014 Newsletter about Witches.
jim1184
Great news letter. This has some excellent hints on interaction with witches. There are some pearls I can use. I have a character who is divorced form a witch in my novel. I think his character status might get upgraded. Thanks.

I can't imagine taking the chance on a romance with a witch but it was fun to read.
What I like about witches is that they are very verstitle and you can do a lot of things with them!
Quick-Quill
The Physick book of Deliverance Dane was an amazing story. It isn't long but well written and very historical. At least to what is poplular belief. Its about witches and maybe not so witchy. Its a great mystery and easy to read.
Thanks for the recommendation!
