Letter from the editor

I love this time of year. Although I can't be everywhere at once (parents in northwest Montana, brothers in Texas and northern Idaho, daughter in Great Falls), I do the best I can to make sure no one feels left out during the holidays, including my patients. As a nurse, there's no guarantee I'll be able to spend the holidays with my family, and this year is no exception. People still get sick and need to be cared for whether it's Christmas or not, and this year I'm working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 7a-7p.

The patients who are stuck in the hospital over Christmas would much rather be home with their loved ones, so we keep each other company and enjoy the feast the hospital prepares for us. We laugh, we reminisce, we watch A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life, and Scrooged, and we hope our families save us some pie.

Peace and goodwill, love and laughter, graciousness and gratitude can be practiced wherever you are. Whether you're surrounded by loved ones, sitting home alone, meeting with family and friends, or stuck at work this holiday season, whisper a prayer of thanks for your life and spread a little cheer to someone less fortunate.

Merry Christmas to you all, and God bless us, everyone.

A swirly signature I made using the Mutlu font and a drop shadow.
